Something about that seems kind of shady.

Maybe, but the hiring rules for these large institutions put them at a disadvantage. You have to have mechanisms in place to compete with private industry who can go out and do a deal in a couple of days.

It is very normal.

As was discussed in this thread, mike price at Alabama never even had a contract. He only had an MOU in place while he coached there and when he was fired.

Same with Gillespie at Kentucky.

Coach Martin also worked for months with no contract in place.

Yeah, Louisville. Tennessee Tech Alumni, though...:). Just remembered we always had to make that trip to Gainesboro for liquor...

Finally have liquor now. Small high gravity selection but getting better. Anyway I better not clutter this thread up, that's late shift stuff.

Bring on Gruden!

No I understand that aspect. It is more the posting for a job that is already filled. No really kosher.

All true, however it is pretty normal for all of this to happen after an offer has been made and accepted for said position.

That may not be the case here, but Gruden can accept and work under an MOU while all the legalese is worked out.

Also, the interviews can be phone interviews. They do not have to be in person.

You are obviously one of the most knowledgable people around here so I don't want to seem like I am disagreeing, rather, I don't want people to get freaked out over nothing.

This is 100 percent correct.

I don't believe the rule of having the job open for a set number of days but I do believe at least one Afircan American candidate has to be interviewed for the position
