Maybe you should call us "Doc"?

You never know.

I'll call you guys whatever you want. You guys have brought it when no one else did, stood tall throughout when people were slinging stuff, and it's all playing out just like you said.

I hope everyone realizes the gravity of what's happening.

This is a major seismic shift in the fortunes of Tennessee football. Both on and off the field. A coming together of many individuals and many moving parts.

This is about more than just hiring Jon Gruden. It's about laying the foundation for Tennessee football for a long, long time.

boosters!!!!!

Dooleys pay is 5 million over three years, he would of gotten 7.5 million. That frees up 2.5 million over three years (800 thousand per year) which is Sal's pay. I expect some of the coaches to be retained especially hinshaw and graham who was identified by Hart to be in charge of recruiting. The rest of the money needed will come from donations to get the coach needed.
Second scenario is worse case scenario is 9.3 million over three years for all coaches relieved, three million per year. University giving back 6 million a year frees up an extra 3 million a year for salaries above present pay. That would put you in the ballpark to pay 5 to 6 million a year for a new coach.

Also, some of their buyout money will be reduced if they find other jobs.

Who just called in to the SportsAnimal? He said he knew who the new coach was and wasn't allowed to tell but that everyone would be very happy with the hire.

Ohhh, it's going to be so much fun! I'll be in section R loving what I am seeing all next year! Thanks for info fellas, I'm ready for a cold one!

So has anyone heard a possible announce date besides 11/30? Just curious if maybe sooner so that I can celebrate and throw in the nay sayers face sooner!

Everyone I know has said weekend of SECCG is very very likely. That would line up, all eyes on the SEC that weekend would make the biggest splash and rub it in GA and Bama face just a bit lol.

Yeah, the athletic department has made a yearly donation and they are just returning the favor now.

If Gruden is successful, the AD should be able to donate again and then some. Think of it like a loan.

Not that, but in the actual press release he says clearly that the funds are being replaced directly through private donations (ie your local neighborhood pilot station)

This may have been said, but Hyams (I know, Hyams) reported on Nashville radio (104.5) that UT is, in his words, the only university in the country that takes the amount of money it does out of the AD and puts it into the University. Not the SEC, not BCS schools, the country. He said if not for that, the UT AD would have a surplus of around $50 million over the last few years.

Again, I know it's Hyams, but I don't think he'd be that off about it. If true, this isn't the AD stealing money from academics. It's the AD keeping what they earned all along. Believe me, I'm a fan of academics, but lets not let that block our view of reality. This is money people have paid and/or donated for athletic reasons.
