This. I would be ecstatic for any solid hire, i.e. Strong, Golden, and yes even Petrino. Anything to end this horrific experiment of a head coach before we end up with a roster of players that resembles UMass.

If the talks with Gruden had not been successful and the ties that Gruden has to East TN and UT, he would have come forward and denied the rumors so the fanbase would not get so jacked up.

With Larry making that statement and Dooley not getting the axe after the South Carolina game I am having major doubts about Gruden being the next HC at UT.

Larry is a good guy, but is not as connected as he used to be.

He is stating his opinion of what he thinks is going to happen. He has always been conservative in what he posts, which is totally fine.

I always had the impression that his info came from the AD side of things, although I could be way off base.

I would assume that the party line in the AD is that there is nothing to see here, move along.

I think Larry is still very connected, but your second idea hit the nail on the head. He is just ultra conservative. He is stuck on the historical idea that UT hires on the cheap. He is correct.

I really believe the decision has been made on Dooley. Does not matter if he wins every game by 40 from here out.

Everybody needs to relax, and try to enjoy the rest of the season. Good things are coming.

I know its hard to believe, and people are starved for info....but its happening.

I think he probably stays....the damage has been done. I think he gets fired after the Kentucky game. I just hope our new coach can pull in some top notch recruits before signing day!!

Are you kidding??? Whether Gruden has any legitimate interest in coaching at UT or not, I'm certain he is fully enjoying every bit of the speculation and the fact that it keeps his name in the spotlight. Why would he want to deny anything?

LOL, seems like that has been the message every morning. Ever thought about getting Freak to sticky it? I know it gets old.

Doubtful.....he is the interim coach. Again, if we let him go then the speculation about a search and Gruden goes into overdrive. As long as Dooley is in place there is no "search" and therefore no media pressure.
