Anyone consider that if JG knows he is Coming here he wouldn't want to give to much public praise to Bama that is evident here???

I'm predjudiced in Gruden coming here, so no, I didn't think of it from that perspective. I took it as just a coach recognizing good talent and good team effort. Could be wrong though.

I guess a feeling of flustration would have been a better word. Its the competitive character that I have always had, and have been coached to have all my life, that makes me feel that way. In my opinion a starting QB should have been chomping at the bit to get back into the game not dancing on the sidelines like they were up 2 touchdowns waiting on the last 30 seconds to run of the clock.

I saw the dancing you speak of and IMO that was his way of showing his chomping at the bit. It was nothing different than a boxer jumping around and dancing before a match IMO

I can't stand bray so this isn't about me defending him to the death.

Thank you Saban for sending out a flyer that promotes our next HC to all your recruits.

lol if Gruden did wind up coming here, that would be hilarious.

"Gruden talks up our school, and that means a lot, because he is basically a football god."

"Oh yeah, coach, well that football god just signed on to coach at Tennessee... Hmmm...."

You cannot ignore the elephant in the room (no pun intended) if recruits place value on what Gruden said about Bama would it not also boost recruiting for Gruden once he is announced.

I think so.

I don't understand your thinking here, that is how most coaches through the ages have always done....

Praise the other team and talk down your own. Coach Bryant was the best there was was at that....Just before his team beat your a**

Sure it would but I am not going out of my way to praise my rival if I know I have a job.

To be the best you have to beat the best, ignoring it or playing it down does not help.

If you don't swing for the fence, chances are you will never hit a homerun.

SIAP

I just read the article about Dooley and his job status. To me it screams "I've lost my job, and I'm going to make the best if it." He usually responds with a smart a$& comment when the media asks a rediculous question.

Derek Dooley on job status: 'I really do not think about that' » govolsxtra.com Mobile

Coach speak. Usually the standard answer when a coach knows he's gone. It answers the question without answering the question. Heard it for years.

I never said down play anything. Never mentioning their greatness would be the best approach IMO.

I have yet to hear a coach who is getting ready to play Bama not praise their style of play.

Ok here's the question.

JG is announced the week before his last MNF game.

Would you expect him to go out of his way in a setting that has nothing to do with bama to declare the physical play of a very good team to be similar to the way Bama plays??

How would this site react to such a statement???

I don't think he was going out of his way when he made the reference about the 49'ers. Most people equate Bama as being a tough, physical and fundamentally sound team. Is that not the mindset that Harbaugh (sp) has brought to the niners?

I honestly think you are reading way to much into that statement Bruin.

I think he has no reason to if he isn't about to join the SEC. He wouldn't even be in that mindset if he wasn't going to coach college soon.

All the people saying that he is only going to consider NFL teams are nuts.

Any one think CDD wins out? I thought he would get better with X's and O's with more experience, but I don't see the improvement. I just have this sick, gut feeling, he will lose at least one game.

He's going to be like Holtz (minus the speech impediment). Always talking up his opponents. Holtz would make the Citadel (Thitadel) sound like the '85 Bears (Bear'ths)

I am certainly reading too much into it but this is the same thread where we discuss what color tie the man I wearing. It's all in fun reading into these things the next month

Probably wins out, and then gets another year. That's just the feeling I get.

Troy will move the ball on our defense, they gained over 500 yards of offense on Miss St earlier this year.
