Official Jon Gruden Thread IV

Surely he should see the potential in revenue alone with a Jon Gruden as HFC at UT! In and around the university and state.

Or could be as simple as, if he's not here, you're not either.

I vote for 2!

Yea or nay. Making complicated decisions simple. Not a novel concept. :)

I like #2 as well. I think the whole situation was a power struggle. Cheek lost.

Win or lose. Again, making complicated decisions become simple.

#2 seems to be the consensus.

If Boro and these other posters really have the scoop, then I assume Jon is coming. If it happens there will be a lot of hype, excitement, and hope for what he might bring. If Jon isn't as good at the college game as we hope then we're in for a rude awakening. How much would that buy out cost etc? At this point we don't have much to lose W-L wise, but betting the bank sure better be the home run many think it will. In the end I'll be excited because it all sounds good right now, yet if Jon can't deliver fast enough how long will take for the fan base to turn on him as well?

Great news Bcarter....so you trust this guy huh?

All my other information and things I hear came from people close to those involved in the process, but this was someone actually involved in the process. I am 100% convinced what he told me is true, the reason I am only 99% is even though there seems to be a verbal agreement and a MOU on paper, he stopped short of saying the MOU is signed, and even with a MOU until the final contract is approved and signed it is not "done". In my profession there are very few absolutes, 99% is as sure as I can be without an announcement.

If Gruden can't win at UT, makes me wonder who could.

Who knows? But a Super Bowl winning celebrity coach will bring a lot more personal capital to spend than a failed WAC coach. That certainly will buy him more patience than we had with Dooley.

Also, while certainly only speculation on my part, I think you'll see improved recruiting based only on his name...at least for a while. Improved skill players will help the transition and hopefully lead us to the success we are looking for.

I had heard something happened to turn Cheeks.....didn't know what. This makes sense.

Let me correct myself. What I was saying about lining up didn't include the Cheek part. I was commenting on the flight to Atlanta by a booster to meet with Gruden. I also was told that after the plane left ATL, it flew to Colorado.....

I'm just as skeptical as you are but there is a small group of guys on here that don't put out bs and are very trustworthy. They all agree and have sources that are trustworthy that says he is gone and Gruden is in. I'm trying to hold back excitement until it is announced, but the guys that are bringing the info just make it to hard to not be excited. I don't have any doubts anymore, just ready for it to be announced and see what kind of recruiting class they will bring in this first season. Sounds like we will have our RB of the future in D. Green.

Nothing wrong with tempered enthusiasm.

Two questions that I keep going back to with things I am hearing on here.

What would attendance have to do with DD finishing the year out?

An interim coach on the sidelines wouldn't improve attendance much at all IMO

Why would Gruden care about keeping the media attention off of him so he can finish out MNF?

It seems to me the more attention he gets the more the ratings go up for espn. I suggest the opposite is the case and he really wants the attention thats why you see a school like this every year with him

So you are saying the boosters like fly fishing....cool.

Does anybody else have Dish? I know Direct TV is the preferred provider on the board, but I have had nothing but good experiences with Dish.

This makes me feel better.... oh please let this all be true:dance2:

Um, I am not sure how we begin motions for approval in this most blessed of threads, but I petition that the term "Grudenball" be the official accepted name of the soon(?) to be Tennessee Volunteer gameplan.

TKS. Please send all donations for this to the CDD Buyout Plan.....:)

Didn't Kamara basically say somewhere that he would commit to Gruden sight unseen?

That's what I heard.

Gruden hasn't step foot on the UT campus and is already making an impact on recruiting..I can only imagine what it will be like once he arrives.

SOON.

On the attendance question.....I don't think it plays into the question of Dooley finishing out the year. I think, and this is only my opinion, it may be
an effort to placate some of the boosters who like Dooley, and did not want to rush him out the door.

As far as the question of the cover-up on Gruden....I don't know who or why, but its what somebody involved wants.
