Official Jon Gruden Thread IV

Ok Guys, I rarely post on here but I thought I would share my conversation with an Ex Vol player who stays in touch with what is going on with the program.

Keep in mind that I personally am a wait and see type of guy with rumors and am hesitant to post this but thought I would share none the less.

I Talked with a buddy of mine who played with Peyton Manning at Tennessee and was at the ceremony for Fulmer. He told me that Gruden was at the Alabama game in the presidents box (may already have been reported on here). He also stated that he has a close friend who works at ESPN and he had told him that Gruden has indeed agreed in principal to coach TN. The deal is 6 years for 30 plus million. Tennessee also has to pay ESPN 10 Million to buy out Gruden's contract at ESPN but all has been agreed to in principal but no contract has been signed, that for legal reasons they have to wait till they fire Dooley. I personally won't believe it till It is announced but with the guy who posted the pic of Gruden watching the Vols game on the plane and taking detailed notes there actually may be something to this. Again this is rumor but I trust my friend and thought I would pass on the info. Go Vols

Appreciate you posting that in the middle of all this chaos..Interesting..

Me too.
I was completely surrounded at the bama game and stayed till the last second.

I appreciate your point of view, but I don't see many protestative actions that are more outward and obvious than empty seats for the game. Hart probably doesn't care that fans voice their opinion on message boards and call-in shows. He would care if fans voice their opinion through their financial support.

Here is where I see this which leads me to a question.

DD isn't going to be the coach in 2013

Gruden is possible but not as likely as many including me thought yesterday. It's certainly not a done deal.

Back channeling is on going to find a replacement for DD.

If all of this is accurate then why is there so much anger toward Hart for letting DD finish the season???????

Man I am as disgusted as anyone, just not more concerned about being right than the Vols no longer being an embarrassment.

As I said all along, wanting to see DD gone is WAYYYY up the list of priorities over Gruden. I would love to have Gruden, but mostly I want DD gone. A lot of people feel that way, and are just as pissed at me.

I pass along what I hear, and only posted about 10% of that which came from people that have no reason to make things up. I have always said it is fluid and shouldn't be considered one of the better sources like Skeeter and SBV. I am just lucky to hear things from time to time at work. Not looking for "insider" status. I am anything but.

I respect this. I also appreciate the embarrassment part as well.

NC state mattered to everyone here before the game was played.

Only because Dooley drove the team so far into the mud last year that there was actual concern we might actually be bad enough to even lose that game too. It didn't matter because NC was a good team, only because we sucked so much last year.

we had punts of 5 and 25 yards Saturday. My buttcheeks clinch up tighter than Fort Knox anytime we attempt an extra point. We don't fumble punts anymore which is nice, and CP is a stud. But overall special teams are a disaster.

like I said, kicking has been terrible. However, just a couple or 3 years ago, we couldn't return a kickoff past the 20, we couldn't keep the other team from passing their own 35, and we couldn't catch a punt, much less return one. Those are what special teams coaches are supposed to coach. We signed the #1 punter and kicker in the country and they are supposed to be able to punt and kick when they step on campus.

We shall see what happens. Empty seats ended CPF.

Remember this Gruden "thing" happened exactly like this at Miami as well. "agreed in principle", saw Gruden looking at girlsin south beach, etc, etc..... Then Randy Shannon. Guess no one wants to learn. Do you really believe UT is going to spend 5-6.5 million dollars on just a head coach. Plus his asisstants might want another 500,000-1000000 each. Easy today you want Gruden, but who on here has Gruden money waiting. With Dooleys buyout, plus Gruden and his assistants salaries. That's king to be a total of anywhere from 9-12 million. You want someone else to spend their money, what are you going to contribute.
