I got a question for you since you know your terminology. So is the "venus" slang for the solo route on the weak side? or what?

Someone else is far more qualified than I am to answer this, but yes...my understanding is that the Venus route is the backside route on the play.

Reading the cliff notes... As a fan beating Troy, Mizzou, Vandy, UK is not an improvement. We have dominated them for how many yrs? Isn't this why Fulmer was fired because these are the teams he beat consistently his last yrs?????

If you watch the video from QB Camp, where Luck is explaining the Spider 2 Y Banana, the X that runs the 9 yard "alert" on the left side of the play would be the Venus...if I understand correctly. Jay would know.

Larry posted in another thread last night that he thinks there is less than a 25% chance Gruden comes to UT.

Larry has been very solid over the years.

With Larry making that statement and Dooley not getting the axe after the South Carolina game I am having major doubts about Gruden being the next HC at UT.

You need to get new "sources," then.

yeah, I watched that video late last night. Andrew calls two of the routes "alert". that was my next question...what does "alert" mean in that situation?

The "Venus" refers to the backside route (fade stop In spider 2/3 Y banana's case).
