there is so much wrong in this post, I don't know where to start.

NFL coaches work twice as hard as college coaches. It's a by product of NCAA rules. The NFL is year round 90 hr/week grind. Dead periods, practice restrictions, etc. limit the time college coaches can work.

NFL coaches work with prima donna unmotivated players whom they can't bench because the owner is paying the player millions. The coach has to deal with the player, players agent, owner, gm when it comes to getting players motivated. Plus, Your roster is limited by a salary cap. In college, the coach is supreme in a players life because the coach has total control and he controls 100% who he wants to play for him and the type of player he wants.

The fact that the talent level in the NFL is so even, means that you must be a better coach if you want to win. In college, you can win a lot of games just by having better players. That didn't happen in the NFL.

The unsuccessful coaching examples you gave were guys who were mediocre our not very good head coaches in the NFL. No surprise they were average head coaches in college.

A good percentage of people on TOS really believe that the outcome of the South Carolina game will affect Dooley's future. They somehow think that we are not currently talking details with Gruden. If Dave Hart is the man we think he is, and Gruden has shown interest in the job then details have definitely been discussed. To think that we are discussing "ballpark" figures with Gruden is laughable. This is an athletic department with a 105 million dollar athletic budget trying to court a home run hire. You don't talk "ballpark figures." In my opinion big name coaches are secured before the current coach is fired. How many times have you quit a job before attaining another one. Would have to think Hart would want to cover himself in the same manner. I also feel like if we have had serious talks with Gruden, that Hart has told Dooley he is fired. It seems logical that this is the only way talks could escalate with Gruden. Just trying to apply some logic to the thousands of threads I've read.

It's a weird situation. With all the chatter, I'd expect the AD to quash it with some statement but any such statement could be easily interpreted by fans as the dreaded vote of confidence that no coach who is on the hot seat wants to hear. Also, and I know the folks who want Dooley to stay will hate this angle, if Hart comes out now and says that Dooley is coming back next year no matter what you can pretty much bank on a lot of empties in Neyland for the final three home games and a lot of people buying thier kid a Titans jersey instead of a Vols jersey to set under the tree. This is a divided fanbase right now and anything that Hart says will anger and alienate some people.

The NFL is stocked with full grown men.
Along with them being full grown men they are the cream of the CFB crop.
The worst player on the worst NFL team would be a star in CFB.
NFL coaches don't work nearly as hard as college coaches because NFL players are consummate pros allowing the coaches to scout oppositions and form game plans.
NFL coaches can actually rely on their players to know the play book and push themselves.
Weekly game plans in the NFL are more about adjusting the system for their new opponent while college coaches are using new plays every week.
NFL coaches going CFB are overwhelmed by system implementation, scouting, watching highschool game tapes, making calls and visits to recruits.
The high school football pool is vastly larger than the mostly baren D1 CFB landscape.

Here are just a few examples of NFL coaches going CFB and failing:
Mike Sherman
Dave Wannstedt
Mike Shula

Pete Carroll
Steve spurrier
Nick Saban

All were successful at the collegiate level. Your point is irrelevant. The SEC has the high school players. Cream of the crop, if you will, from the HS ranks. It's an equal tier of talent. Gruden works with rookies every year. He likes teaching and coaching. Coaches coach. NFL players aren't exempt from coaching.

Funny thing is Gruden has been coaching high school.

I agreed with most of it except for the nfl coaches work twice as hard statement. I don't buy that for one minute. Yes the 20 hour rule means less time on the field but trade one thing for another. Recruiting, dealing with boosters, and academics more than take up the slack.
