Here is what may likely have happened imho: the boosters, AD, and VFL's circled the wagons came up with an offer that they felt like could not possibly be turned down by a coach who had interest whatsoever in being a head coach hence the quiet confidence by many. They probably did in fact meet and he probably did express some initial interest but that interest may have not been sincere. He ultimately turned down a very lucrative offer at the surprise of many but I think what you are really seeing are those individuals who were around in 08' and 12' that simply believed that this was always about Jon and his ego. That he truly never had any interest in being the head coach at UT. The information about the meetings and salary was probably leaked by VFL's and friends of boosters not anyone close to Currie, or Gruden himself that is why it was contradictory.

Here is most likely what has happend based on our incompetent athletic department. They didnt start doing any coaching search until this past week. Gruden said no then thats fine. There is no way in the world that they have been courting Gruden since Georgia game for him to now tell us no. Im not buying that

That's exactly what i said when I listened to this last night. I don't believe it at all, just because Ol' Andrew just got his mom fired from a pretty decent gig if any of it IS true. I mean, I hope it's true. Andrew would be a little ***hole, but it would be nice if its true.

Gonna be mostly off line today, but I want to say this. Lots of people here asking Boro, DTO, SFD, Coasty and others "how are we on Gruden today?" Folks, pick a side and stick with it. I have taken the position that I am with Gruden until Currie tells us he's not. And that should come from his mouth, and not twitter or my cousin has a friend. It's close, and nothing is going to come out believable unless it comes from Currie. We have our new coach, IMO, and I'm not moving on that.

Then what you are saying is Mississippi State and Tennessee are on equal playing field in terms of finances and recruiting? I guess Mullen has accidently coached up multiple NFL QBs.

Just looking at his record is like looking at the front cover of a book and saying "nope".

My free, job-issued laptop begs to differ. I think if you go back and look, you will see that I am not a "good poster". I am mediocre at best......curmudgeon at worst.
