Official Jon Gruden Thread 36

What is everyone doing after today? It’s make it or break it day, most insiders say today is the announcement.

If Jon Gruden is hired, we're all (well most of us) going to stop what we're doing to enjoy several hours of pure euphoric and long coming reflection on how great it is to be a Tennessee Vol...

If Jon Gruden is not hired, we're all (well most of us) going to look to the establishment that is Tennessee Athletics to hire the best possible fit and qualified man to bring us back to the upper echelon of game. Then we'll get behind said man, stop what we're doing and enjoy several hours of pure euphoric and long coming reflection on how great it is to be a Tennessee Vol... (unless that man is Dan Mullen who I actually like, apparently)

Guys we literally saw flames on Wednesday night. People were booming and already celebrating. There was no more smoke it had turned to fire. Let's take a step back and get a timeline together. My memory may be a little fuzzy but to the best of my knowledge this is what happened...

Tuesday night

AtlantaVol broke his couple weeks of silence. His last thing he said to the best of my memory was about the BOT meeting. Went completely silent after that, came back gave out tickets, then said that tomorrow (Wednesday) was a pivotal moment in the hunt of red October. Someone else said something along the lines of... "Everyone temper their expectations we may never know what will have happened tomorrow (which was Wednesday they were referring too) AtlantaVol agreed with this person, and then to the best of my knowledge (I haven't read every single post of all of these threads that would be nearly impossible) that was the last thing he said.

Wednesday

Around lunch time OrangePill came here and said that he had lunch with a BOT member. He mentioned that there would be a meeting in Tampa (again to the best of my knowledge this is the first time we heard about this meeting.) This expanded on what AtlantaVol said and made a little more sense of what he said the previous night. Also around this time I believe Beaver changed his pic to a thread and needle.

Fast forward to Wednesday evening.

Hargis went on PF's show and rocked bottom him and had PF shooked. Jauan Jennings announces that he's coming back for 2018 (could be completely unrelated?) ... a couple of former players start tweeting. Maggitt says it's Gruden "season".

Beaver changes his profile pic (On Twitter) to a tux. Bubba comes on here and says see ya guys in 10 years for the next coaching search. OrangePill tells us he heard it's a done deal. Tuesday started celebrating (I'm not sure if he heard something from Tee or what?) ...after all of that this board went absolutely nuts for a few hours until BCarter came in and threw water on the fire and said that be cautious to some insiders.

Are we now saying that Bubba, Tuesday, OrangePill, etc. we're wrong on Wednesday night?

Yes in fact they probably were wrong and may have just as likely made it up

I'm all in for Gruden, but I'm starting to think that he, as well as lots of players (former AND current) are just trolling the absolute sh*t out of the fanbase. With all of the idiotic tweets the players get from fans after games, I could totally see them just having fun with this now.
Let's have some good news today, please!

Also - thanks to VolNation for yesterday. The whole airport stakeout was the most entertaining thing I've ever seen, and ended hilariously.

Anyone that is waiting on an announcement from Currie that “we tried but he said no” aren’t going to get it. There will be one announcement when the hire is made, whether it’s JG or whoever, at least that’s what he told us would happen.

That indeed is what Currie said. Maybe he underestimated the power of social media and the rabid UT fan base? When I heard him say that, I looked at my son and said, "that's a big mistake there." Hope he has a homerun hire when he finally breaks his silence.

that is EXACTLY what I was thinking when I read that too. "don't believe anything you hear because it's not true... but oh yeah believe me"

Right? And the way he put it, the only correct info would be coming from the AD office. So the only way he'd have correct info is from a source in the AD and he literally says just a few lines up not to believe anyone that says they have a source in the AD office.

So he's saying he has better sources than journalists who do this for a living? I don't think so.

I'm thinking this guy is either flat out wrong, or is not as connected as some would think.

This whole saga is probably the best example of confirmation bias I have ever seen. If anyone says anything that remotely indicates that Gruden is not going to be the coach, the pack just rips them apart, yet people believe fake twitter accounts and ridiculous stories about Gruden eating ribs at Calhoun's lol.
