If you ever are forced to drive through it stop in Mississippi, do not - I repeat: do not - eat at a chain called Wards. My children will eat anything except for from there. My daughter wanted to know where they got hot pink hot dogs from.

Since we're on the topic of fast food type burgers, if anyone is ever in Nashville, they need to hit up Bobbie's Dairy Dip. It's in Charlotte Ave in downtown. Great burger, great fries, and fantastic shakes.

I pass Cardin's drive in often and literally shake my head and cars doubled stacked at that little hole in the wall in Straw Plains :)

This was my mom's first job in 1973. Pretty cool it's still going strong

Not to get on the burger train, but Armando's does have good burgers, just down the road from the tunnel in Chatt town:hi::hi:

I was about to mention them! I ate there on break all the time when I waited tables at The Loft. Went to the one in Hixson with my parents all the time.

OK, I am watching the Titans play Pittsburg as I have the work day off. I am in Thailand and was shocked to see an article on Gruden rumored to Tennessee! It carried the Gruden non-denial denial, but it was a bit of a thrill to see it has gone international!

Beav-no one else seems excited about your surprise, but I am. Why people don’t trust you, I don’t know. Seems to me, you’ve been pretty spot on. If you’re dropping hints about a party, then I’m picking them up. I haven’t had a good party since New Years in Vegas circa 2008. I could use a good party, man.
The whole state will be in party mode....SOOOON!!!!

Stock and Barrel is solid.

River City Cafe in Myrtle Beach.

Pals is the best franchise in the world.

Ok, question for those in South Knox/ Northern Blount County in the '70's and '80's:

There was a non-chain burger place out by the airport on Old Maryville Pike, except that out there I think it was Old Knoxville Hwy?? Anyway, not on All-Kill-Ya Hwy, or at least I don't believe so.

It had amazing burgers that actually had flavor, and it began with what I call a Scrabble letter: Q, X, Y, or Z.

Xeno's? Completely making things up here in terms of names, but it was amazing. Went out of business.

Edit to add: maybe it WAS on Alcoa/ Airport Hwy. I don't think so, because it was sort of sleepy and slow, but Murrville Pike doesn't really feel right, either.

Argh! I know what you are talking about. It was competing with the old Humdinger Drive In (now Amburn's) and it was awesome...If my mom wasn't asleep I would call and ask her. For what it's worth, we always called that stretch of road "Old Knoxville Hwy" growing up.

JAV said we would know either way in 12-18 hours. Then Gruden was on the Seattle radio show and dropped that huge tease. We haven't heard anything else of substance since then, I think we got him guys.

God forbid you ever have to go through Alabama, but if you do the Milo's chain of restaurants down there makes a pretty decent burger and fries.
