I'm guessing either nobody has bought the franchise or someone bought it and doesn't want to open yet. We did have Whataburger here a long time ago. I remember going to one near where Grassmere Zoo is now located on Nolensville Road in the 70s. There is a building near the HWY 70/100 split that has been a florist and was a Varallos Chili Parlor before that but it sure looks like an old A-frame Whataburger. I've also read that there was one in East Nashville once upon a time.

Had my first Whataburger a couple of years ago in Galveston... I have been jonesing for it again ever since.

Have you had In-N-Out burger - another good choice that isn't in NC? I actually like Jack in the Box - I think there is one of those off I-40 somewhere between here and Asheville....
