I get that

However you quoted a post that didn’t have his name in it and decided to put his name in your post.

Again, I was hoping this topic ended last night after 2 hours and yet it’s still here 12 hours later.

Oh no. Bad on me for bringing attention to someone doing good deeds on here. Good day sir.

Even if no news comes the next few days, don't lose faith fellow vols. Football season will soon be fun again.

That's what I'm thinking. Everyone should have came to the table with what they wanted from the beginning.

I won't say Gruden is being greedy or unrealistic but it seems odd that the deal is "done", apparently Currie made major concessions to make this happen and Gruden keeps asking for more.

But I'm not privy to what's being asked for. It could be something as small as fresh raisenettes in his office every day.. who knows..

Then I'm out. Raisinettes? That is not a quality snack and not something I think the Tennessee coach should be eating.

Pork rinds? Unhealthy but I'll support that.

Kit Kat? 100%

Raisinettes...get out of here with that.

Edit: and what, exactly, is a 'fresh' raisinette

No news isn't good news. Imo. The longer it goes, the less likely it is to happen. If our next coach isn't coaching and it has been decided and "done" it would be leaked as soon as it's done. There is no drawback or "extra exposure" as some say by the timing. It will be talked about from now to NSD and on and on.

this is what i'm afraid of.

if the contract has been signed, there are no more goal posts. if the goal posts are being moved, this is not a done deal.

if it's not a done deal and he's moving the goal posts, he's backing out, but doesn't want to say no ... wants us to tell him we're done and walk away.

jmo

i sure do hope i'm wrong here, but i can't be the only one that connected those dots.

well all of this really depends on how much weight anyone puts on what they've heard the last 24-48 hours being true.

Nobody is dragging his name. The troll issue is still being discussed and bcarter said he only trusts Deer park, LWS, and Skeeter. I saw where he donated money just the other night. I was simply saying I don't believe he is a troll. Geez...

BCarter is a good fellow, and has solid reason for those he trusts.

Having said that, he obviously hasn't updated his "trusted insiders" list in a year or more.
  • Deerpark was reportedly the Adidas rep to our AD office, and hasn't been connected to Tennessee since we switched to Nike.
  • Skeeter left the AD's office, what, about a year ago? And hasn't had any insider access since.
  • LWS used to be well connected (I think he's a low-level booster, but not sure about that), but he told us himself that he got frustrated with the university leadership's unwillingness to take the effort to be a winning program, so he backed way out. Now he hears tidbits from time to time, but is largely disengaged. Again, he told us all this himself.
So...BCarter is basically saying that he has no current insiders that he trusts. And that's absolutely fine, that is his call. 100%.

But I choose to trust Atlanta Vol, and because of him, Beav and Bubba. I also trust that Tuesday is who he says he is.

And when all four of them reacted with elation within minutes of each other yesterday, and gave the cryptic hints they did, that sealed it for me.

We've got Jon Gruden. I think (though may have been misreading the tea leaves) that we have Tee Martin, as well. And I firmly believe CJG welcomed his coaching staff into his home in Tampa yesterday evening to get acquainted.

That's how I read it all, and why. You do you, naturally.

Go Vols!

I read someplace that Van Halen had a line in their contracts that stated they had to have a big bowl of M&Ms backstage and all the brown ones removed. The last part was just to see if the people actually read the thing.

I would like to believe all the details were decided ahead of time and now they are trying to make it appear actual things are going down after Jones was actually fired. All the the people saying "done" gives me reason to. The combination of last time, and the people saying "done" being anonymous, and the press absolutely scoffing at the idea make it hard for me to believe. I just don't see any real buzz about any other candidate though.

There is also a tipping point where he has been given everything he asks for and now must make a decision. I hope that’s soon lol

Yup, if Currie agrees to everything or at least meets him halfway then there come that time where there is nothing left to ask for.

Then it's squarely on Gruden.

Just received a text from same person who told me Butch was fired at 3:00am at Missouri that absolutey Currie was on plane, in Tampa putting on full court press. Only negative they’ve told me is Gruden is moving the goal post a bit.

Im good. Not here for validation, just passing on info I received for free. If you’re really searching for validation just look at my post on Butch Jones firing at 3:00am on Sunday morning.
I’m not an insider, nor claim to be one just happen to be close friends with someone who’s in the know.

As I stated to another poster, I frankly don’t know. That’s all the info I was given. I myself took that to mean demands by Gruden but never thought of date/time or anything else for that matter. Once again I absolutely am NOT an insider.

look, i appreciate what you're bringing to the board.
not knocking or attacking you.

that said, you presented yourself as having inside information.

I do not think any ESPN employee would know what JG is thinking - don't care how close they think they are to him. I've experienced numerous time in my career situations where Execs were convinced that someone would never leave and actually stated - "they are my best friend, they would tell me if they were considering anything else" - only to have the person announce their resignation the next day. TIFWIW - I don't think the ESPN crowd has a clue what's going on - either way.

No, but they are very skeptical because of his pay and the fact that he works 18 Monday's a year which isn't completely accurate but its what they are thinking.
