Official Jon Gruden Thread 35

if Gruden is the guy we won't take no as an answer from, then you have to believe we've said yes to basically whatever he wants.

if this thing is as far along as has been reported to be, then i just can't believe there's a scenario that would exist that would make UT get up from the table and say "deal's off".

so, assume all that's true, and Gruden's moving the goal posts at this point in the process, then it's most likely cold feet on the gruden camp's part.

and there just may be nothing we can do about that.

again, that's all assuming all the "credible" stuff we've heard is as true as we think it is, in regard to exactly where they are in the deal making process.

That's what I'm thinking. Everyone should have came to the table with what they wanted from the beginning.

I won't say Gruden is being greedy or unrealistic but it seems odd that the deal is "done", apparently Currie made major concessions to make this happen and Gruden keeps asking for more.

But I'm not privy to what's being asked for. It could be something as small as fresh raisenettes in his office every day.. who knows..

Does anyone else have info on the possibility of Inky being put in charge of our VFL program? This is something I was very excited to hear and would be something that I think we all would be very proud to have happen.

I’m really sick of us being the butt of all college football jokes lately...

Why does the media think UT is not a good job? All it takes is one good coach to get us back to where we should be

Ppl have short term memories. Once Gruden is announced and kicking the crap out of the SEC this will all be moot and they'll be showering the Vols with praise for years to come.

They'll be talking about us being a tier 1 job again and power program as if we never left. Amazing what a great coach can do to a program. Look at Miami for a prime example right now.

Pro style offense. Harbaugh is a good coach and a good recruiter. But he can't find a real pro style QB. They aren't coming out of HS anymore.

When he was at Oakland Gruden made a MVP out of Rich Gannon - a journeyman, or a "Philly Cabdrive" as Gruden described him. Perhaps Gruden may be able to work with a young QB and develop him into a good QB.

That's just one more reason Gruden needs to be the coach.

There's always a line in the sand. But, I don't think Gruden, if he is really interested, would just push to see how far Currie will go.

Runaway bride, loves dating and having admirers but just can't ever say the vows and make it to the Honeymoon, ND has tried, Texas has tried and several pro jobs I would imagine....IF Curry makes this happen he oughta be dating Kate Upton cause dude is a playa

We need a vindictive SOB in this thread to compile screen shots, quotes from these threads, stories from the web, etc so when they day comes and he's announced as our coach, ALL of the non-believers can be called to the mat.

What a glorious f'in day that will be.

I will say this, I started as a non believer. No shame in admitting it. I have, however, turned over a new leaf after reading some of the info in these threads, and piecing a few things together between what people are saying and certain not so skeptical media members and become a full on Grudenite. I don’t believe 100% it’s happening because I know things happen and we can have a deal in place and something change but I’m more hopeful than I ever have been. It just feels much different this time. Seems like by this time in the process in 2012 he had came out and shut down the rumors and said he had no interest in it. He’s been quiet as a church mouse. Last night this thread and some of the VFLs on Twitter gave me a reason to be more optimistic than I had been. Couple that with a Hubbs acknowledgement of it, even saying he couldn’t confirm it, he’s state radio he’s not gonna break it without being told but Hubbs is respected by me, he don’t put anything out without being very confident in it. I just have a good feeling this go around.

This is the internet. Fantasies are boundless under the guise of anonymity. I wouldn't read too much into a Psych 101 method, and then apply it to a message board. Not only inaccurate, but disingenuous.

LOL! Hilarious, but thank you for making my point. The Internet is indeed the perfect trolling ground just as you said. There are no checks and balances, there is no one to hold you accountable in the real world. It's as basic as can be - Psych 101 to you. No discipline, no moral compass. Appeals to the lowest common denominator. All behaviors defined by lack of a strong parental/authority figure in early stage development.

You can go ahead and have the last word if you want (and I know you will because that's the kind of person you are), but I'm done. Not spending any more time or energy debating something here that doesn't even merit the time I've already wasted on it.

I dont think AV is a troll. He donated $500 to the gofundme for the Vet that was posted on here. If he's a troll, it's an expensive way to get internet likes.

AV’s identity has been verified by a RF regular poster who set up a go fund me for another poster who needed help paying for a child’s medical treatment. He matched all gifts raised on this site.

That was over a year ago I believe. I think in the months leading up to the 2016 signing class.

He gave on condition of anonymity but when the RF poster saw his name through go fund me, he was shocked.

AV has missed on some recruiting predictions but when you’re dealing with 17 year olds info is fluid.

I would put 100% stock in AVs information, with the caveat he is not a decision maker for the school, and is not the AD, fulmer, Peyton, Haslam, Anderson, Thornton, or ergen.

I feel like it's safe to assume UT has given JG everything he has wanted and asked for this time around. If this doesn't work out, its solely on him and not the UTAD.

Although, a lot of people will still say "UTAD messed this up" when reality Gruden has a commitment problem.

I was just messing with you.

JP is a really good dude, one of my favorites on VN. He does not claim to be an insider or to know anything about any of this. He's just really good at expressing his opinion on a message board.

Hmmm...fair enough, open board!! So express ya feelings grude or bad😁

Quite frankly that’s everything I know. I took that to mean demands but pure speculation on my part. That’s all the info I was given. If I know more and I can I’ll defi post it. I’m waiting on pins and needles like the rest of you.

LebenlangVol would have been flowed better

Just received a text from same person who told me Butch was fired at 3:00am at Missouri that absolutey Currie was on plane, in Tampa putting on full court press. Only negative they’ve told me is Gruden is moving the goal post a bit.

Sounds like Gruden and the boosters are having a little fun with Mr. Currie.
Leaving no doubt who is running the show.

He is earning his paycheck.

AV is very solid, nobody is 100%. But he is not a troll.

AV is absolutely not a troll

Why keep dragging his name in a topic that has already been beaten to death for 12 hours?

Nobody is dragging his name. The troll issue is still being discussed and bcarter said he only trusts Deer park, LWS, and Skeeter. I saw where he donated money just the other night. I was simply saying I don't believe he is a troll. Geez...

Beav and Bubba were here last night? I dont have time to read back and when I search it says database error.

Whatd they have to allow?

The only time I’ve seen Inky brought up was in the write up yesterday. I hope it happens and believe it would be great!

However I’ve not seen it posted anywhere else

So now we're in the Quiet Time.

Supposedly, the negotiations, agreements, and contract work are all done. Papers are filed. Moving companies contracted in a dozen different towns. Current bosses are being quietly notified, and affairs put in order. The date of The Announcement has been set (though we are not privy to that detail); media will be informed and invited about 24-48 hours out.

And so we wait.

There is still room for information to filter down to us, like names of coordinators and assistant coaches. But perhaps the lid is on tight enough that we won't even hear much of that in advance.

We will almost certainly see light bulbs coming on over the heads of various national and local media types as they finally discover what we already know. A few will eat the crow dinner they richly deserve; but most will spread the revelation out over time, will try to make their u-turn slowly enough that they can pretend they were pointing in the right direction all along.

...

At this point, it's all about the right timing.

How's that defined? You and I don't know, though Currie and his team do. Some things we can be pretty sure of: it is not dependent on the final two games--the timing is not going to change with a win here or a loss there. And (much as many of us would enjoy this) nor is it contingent upon a Florida announcement. Our news is so big, it is going to upstage anything Florida has, no matter what order or how much time passes between the two press conferences. Currie is not concerning himself with Florida.

So we wait.

Should be fun.

Go Vols!

The waiting is the hardest part, but if he comes to UT, Football will be fun again!!

Haha, don't listen to Behr, Suave. :)

I am no insider. Just confident in the news we got from Atlanta Vol, Beav, Bubba, Tuesday, and others yesterday.

That post was just my assessment of how things stand right now if all they said (and hinted) is true. I believe it is. You must decide for yourself, of course.

So...no insider, not at all. Behr is a troll, let's get him!

Oh look more info i missed 🙄 It's hard when it's going 100 pages a minute so if you don't care to give me a tid bit of what they said I'd appreciate it,I've been around long enough to know who the majority of the insiders are like the (OG's) but I welcome new ones as long as they are legit fresh blood is always good ya know
