Official Jon Gruden Thread 35

yes, a little clarification would be wonderful and greatly appreciated.
:hi:

if Gruden is the guy we won't take no as an answer from, then you have to believe we've said yes to basically whatever he wants.

if this thing is as far along as has been reported to be, then i just can't believe there's a scenario that would exist that would make UT get up from the table and say "deal's off".

so, assume all that's true, and Gruden's moving the goal posts at this point in the process, then it's most likely cold feet on the gruden camp's part.

and there just may be nothing we can do about that.

again, that's all assuming all the "credible" stuff we've heard is as true as we think it is, in regard to exactly where they are in the deal making process.

Quite frankly that’s everything I know. I took that to mean demands but pure speculation on my part. That’s all the info I was given. If I know more and I can I’ll defi post it. I’m waiting on pins and needles like the rest of you.

That's what I'm thinking. Everyone should have came to the table with what they wanted from the beginning.

I won't say Gruden is being greedy or unrealistic but it seems odd that the deal is "done", apparently Currie made major concessions to make this happen and Gruden keeps asking for more.

But I'm not privy to what's being asked for. It could be something as small as fresh raisenettes in his office every day.. who knows..

this is what i'm afraid of.

if the contract has been signed, there are no more goal posts. if the goal posts are being moved, this is not a done deal.

if it's not a done deal and he's moving the goal posts, he's backing out, but doesn't want to say no ... wants us to tell him we're done and walk away.

jmo

i sure do hope i'm wrong here, but i can't be the only one that connected those dots.

I remember James Howse. I attended Oakland but older than him. He transferred from A&M to Miss St. I know he helped at a HS alumini game some years back between old Oakland and Riverdale players.

One of the best running backs in high school I've ever seen. Big and super fast!!!!

So just to be clear on "moving the goal post a bit" do you mean as in the date and time or his demands have changed?

As I stated to another poster, I frankly don’t know. That’s all the info I was given. I myself took that to mean demands by Gruden but never thought of date/time or anything else for that matter. Once again I absolutely am NOT an insider.

Whatever happens, I am ready for it to be over. I would like something to happen whether it be good or bad so I can get back to being a productive member of society again instead of addicted to a d*** message board.

I keep telling myself I'll stop, and it keeps dragging me back in.

If this is the case it would portray him as a diva and damage his ability to get another coaching job (or maybe any job) in the future.

AV’s identity has been verified by a RF regular poster who set up a go fund me for another poster who needed help paying for a child’s medical treatment. He matched all gifts raised on this site.

That was over a year ago I believe. I think in the months leading up to the 2016 signing class.

He gave on condition of anonymity but when the RF poster saw his name through go fund me, he was shocked.

AV has missed on some recruiting predictions but when you’re dealing with 17 year olds info is fluid.

I would put 100% stock in AVs information, with the caveat he is not a decision maker for the school, and is not the AD, fulmer, Peyton, Haslam, Anderson, Thornton, or ergen.

I'm not saying he is a troll. He, besides LWS, is the only one I've been able to verify as actually being legit.

There's always a line in the sand. But, I don't think Gruden, if he is really interested, would just push to see how far Currie will go.

i don't either. i think as far as negotiations go, this would probably be fairly amicable.

and barring something really ridiculous, and i don't think it would happen as you and i just stated, there's just not a scenario i could imagine that would get UTK to pull a deal off the table......

i mean, all we've heard is "it's different this time" "we don't have the same issues as last time"...

so if it's not gonna get done, it's because it's been BS from the jump, or Gruden got cold feet and is backing out.

otherwise, assuming everything we've heard is true, this thing should get done, sooner than later, right?

I do not think any ESPN employee would know what JG is thinking - don't care how close they think they are to him. I've experienced numerous time in my career situations where Execs were convinced that someone would never leave and actually stated - "they are my best friend, they would tell me if they were considering anything else" - only to have the person announce their resignation the next day. TIFWIW - I don't think the ESPN crowd has a clue what's going on - either way.

I think a lot of Tennessee fans feel like I feel at this point. I am scared to get my hopes up, but I believe and want to believe. I am also not 100% convinced that he will be able to live up to the hype at this point. Hell, I am not sure anyone could live up to the hype he has built over the last 10 years.

But the main 2 reasons I want him to take the job is just so I can feel good about Tennessee again. If Gruden accepts the job, he basically validates Tennessee as being a destination job and lord knows Tennessee fans need some validation after the last 10 years. The second reason I want him to take the job is so all these smug national media people will have to eat crow. Their dismissive attitude towards Tennessee really pisses us off and is part of why so many of us crave validation.

Agree 100%! Well Said

I have a bad feeling we are going to end up with Jeff Brohm or Mike Norville. Or maybe Chad Morris

Hope not. What the heck has Jeff Brohm done anyways? Seems like coaches like him are always linked to the UT job but at every other school it would be an underwhelming hire! Don’t get it one bit...

Nobody is dragging his name. The troll issue is still being discussed and bcarter said he only trusts Deer park, LWS, and Skeeter. I saw where he donated money just the other night. I was simply saying I don't believe he is a troll. Geez...

I get that

However you quoted a post that didn’t have his name in it and decided to put his name in your post.

Again, I was hoping this topic ended last night after 2 hours and yet it’s still here 12 hours later.

AV is about as golden as they come. Even with bad news, it doesn't sound as depressing as LWS and Deerpark...wow that guy must of been having a bad day when he last posted. I've never seen him act like a tool before.

I will believe it when it is officially announced. A whole lot of people in the know were convinced last time and it didn't happen. Hope it's true but this feels too much like last time to feel comfortable

If Gruden keeps moving the goalpost, I winder where the cut off is?..

I mean, there has to be a tipping point somewhere as to where Currie says no.

I guess it depends on what is being asked for.

There is also a tipping point where he has been given everything he asks for and now must make a decision. I hope that’s soon lol

guess not.

anybody know who vol fur das leben is?
i don't mean like dox...like is he connected, legit, ect.

He did post that Butch has been fired around 3 am Sunday morning after the Missouri game. It went largely unnoticed. Everyone skipped over it. I almost mentioned it but i haven’t been posting as much lately because I’m not hanging on to every word everyone is saying as much anymore. I’m just trying my best to patiently wait.
