So now we're in the Quiet Time.

Supposedly, the negotiations, agreements, and contract work are all done. Papers are filed. Moving companies contracted in a dozen different towns. Current bosses are being quietly notified, and affairs put in order. The date of The Announcement has been set (though we are not privy to that detail); media will be informed and invited about 24-48 hours out.

And so we wait.

There is still room for information to filter down to us, like names of coordinators and assistant coaches. But perhaps the lid is on tight enough that we won't even hear much of that in advance.

We will almost certainly see light bulbs coming on over the heads of various national and local media types as they finally discover what we already know. A few will eat the crow dinner they richly deserve; but most will spread the revelation out over time, will try to make their u-turn slowly enough that they can pretend they were pointing in the right direction all along.

...

At this point, it's all about the right timing.

How's that defined? You and I don't know, though Currie and his team do. Some things we can be pretty sure of: it is not dependent on the final two games--the timing is not going to change with a win here or a loss there. And (much as many of us would enjoy this) nor is it contingent upon a Florida announcement. Our news is so big, it is going to upstage anything Florida has, no matter what order or how much time passes between the two press conferences. Currie is not concerning himself with Florida.

So we wait.

Should be fun.

Go Vols!

Agree with all except that part about the last two games. Does Grud want to coach that Vandy game? Wont have enough time to implement or change much. Would pretty much have to go with what we have. I’d hate for him to start his tenure here with a loss to vandy.

Bruce Feldman just posted on Twitter that his sources indicate we are in contract negotiations with Gruden .....

Yes, Chuck ran a great site. Paid for it out of his own pocket! I sent him donations from time to time, in appreciation. I even got a Christmas card from him!

I sent Chuck a donation as well. Several of us (RobtNAtl, Vol12 and a few others) met with TennStud before the NC game and again for dinner at Morton's the night before the SEC Championship game against LSU. Vol12 let my son and I take his 911 for a spin before one game. I think that site took a big hit when Chuck sold it and another when Jumpmaster faded away and really collapsed after TennStud passed. He was a jewel.

This site reminds me a little bit of the old Gridscape. Lot's of really good people here. I like it--a lot.

Last night was undoubtedly a good night for Vol Fans, but I still can't help but shake this feeling when I woke up this morning with some serious concerns still there. I just can't completely reconcile how the national media (and now Hubbs somewhat as well) is still saying the exact opposite of some of the local media (Hargis, Wallace, Brice, etc.)

I don't completely trust the national media, but I just feel like they should know SOMETHING. How can all of them think contact has not even been officially made? Hubbs is saying that now too. This just feels exactly like 2012.

I think the earliest you would see him on the sidelines would be if we get to a bowl game

I have come to the conclusion that "Gruden" is equally effective when used as a noun, verb, adjective, pronoun or gerund and thus should be entered into the dictionary just under "God". And also that a statue should be erected immediately as one of his perks. Amen.
