Funny thing about that post by UTLEGEND from TOS.

It said nothing about anyone saying Gruden wasn't interested, just that some that know him said they'd have to see it to believe it.

But, Patterson said he wasn't interested.

"See, Hubbs said Gruden ain't coming. All you guys in the know don't know anything. Let's concentrate on a realistic candidate like Patterson. Him saying he wasn't interested is just a smokescreen. Currie has been talking to him."

that's the thing with this whole scenario ... people get worked up and say gruden ain't realistic, and then bring up crazy names and act like they are realistic ... or names of coaches who would be realistic, as in sure they'd come, but we'd be stupid to hire them.

gruden is as realistic as anyone, imo.
crazy people are crazy.

:hi:

Not doubting their info that Currie took a couple of commercial flights, but if he were going to Tampa why didn't he just step on the private jet with everyone else?

Conspiracy theory - smokescreen. Just seems like a lot of work for little or no gain.

I am totally CSIing here. What if Currie simply gave himself up and said....Let me jump on a few commercial flights and try to throw off all the trackers. Ill meet yall in Tampa when its time to finalize things....

Don't forget that hubbs is State radio. State radio does not want this to leak out before they are ready to announce it. State radio had to walk it back a bit. Don't take anything that hubbs said negatively. In my opinion there's more positive news in that statement then negative.
Look for more misdirection and smoke screens Then. BOOM

This. Hubbs is a solid reporter IMO and if he has mentioned it that says to me that there is definitely something to everything we have heard. Post makes sense

I have a feeling that yesterday was a huge day for Volnation.
I also believe that by this time next week we will all be in a much more happy and stable place.
Of course, I know nothing and could be wrong.

One of my favorite quotes is from a British journalist...”it is the absence of hope which equals the despair that is the punishment.”

Keep the hope. I think it’s well founded.

To work as a broadcaster on WMNL, you have to sell your soul to the Jimmy Hyams cult. That is, only report news that won't get the station in trouble with the UTAD. If Gruden is hired, they'll come up with some story that covers their bad reporting. Perhaps they'll say Gruden didn't want to come but major boosters twisted his arm ala Saban. Who knows except WMNL will not admit they screwed this story up if Jon Gruden becomes UT's coach. The only guys that seem to get around this are the Sports 180 duo of Josh Ward and Will West. They will on occasion speak out of turn, especially Will. Frankly, I'm surprised he's still allowed to work at AM990. The sad part about this station is that most on the show are either "respectable" journalists who militantly maintain their objectivity about UT sports or have bought into the thought that UT is not worthy to have a Nick Saban type coach. Hyams has said that he believes UT is nothing more than possibly a top 20 job. But you need to understand that Hyams is not a UT fan. Never has been since he moved to Knoxville from Baton Rouge in 1985. He is an LSU fan.

^Right On

That deserves a small BOOM!

Isn't he a very respected poster? Has Hutch said anything more as well? Im more leery after bcarters posts last night lol! Hopefully Hargis will give some more info about the meeting last night. And while I agree with a poster who said he was concerned that we are pushing Gruden to decide- we aren't in the situation now where he can take weeks and weeks. If he is genuinely wanting to be our coach the time is now.
