Official Jon Gruden Thread 35

All I took away from the Grant Ramey article is that it doesn't seem like a final decision was made last night like our insiders made us believe. He still has time to think.....

Guys on Playbook asking Jimbo Fisher what advice he would have if Gruden is considering coaching in college. Narrative changing a bit from the normal laughing at the idea

I’m still trying to wrap my head around why Gruden would namedrop Rocky Top on that radio show out of nowhere (especially intriguing after whatshisface on Twitter said he’d sing it in Charlotte if we hired him). Potentially even more curious was the radio guy’s face/reaction after Gruden said that. Go back and watch for those who haven’t. He legit had a “HOLY SH*T” look on his face like he momentarily forgot he was being filmed.

Yep. I'm pretty sure he mouthed "***** you" on the mic since Jon basically trolled them on not bringing up his name being attached to the UT job lol. I think he's accepted, and it is all but pending an announcement at this point. I looks for ESPN to break the story before long if he has signed the deal.

All within an hour, we have:

-- Gruden talking about how great a song Rocky Top is, on a Seattle radio station
-- Brice and Ramsey confirming something went down last night in Tampa involving UT AD and others
-- Wallace giving Vols fans a pep talk as if we lost our first choice, then backtracking

I can't for the life of me get these three dots to line up. #1 and #2 work well together, but #3 is all outta whack.

Anyone have a theory on Trey Wallace that fits with the other happenings?

I think it’s pretty simple.

Wallace has apparently been on the vanguard with his information. Sometimes when you find yourself that far ahead of the pack you start second guessing yourself. You can’t even believe yourself where you are so you start rationalizing.

It’s kindof like this:

My wife loves jeeps. Years ago I found a Jeep like she wanted for a great price. I’ve already looked at it, inspected it, did a title search, etc. I had the money lined up and had already negotiated a rough price.

When I take my wife to look at it, I tell her “don’t get your hopes up too high, let’s just go see.”

Why did I do that? To manage expectations, both hers and mine, in case something falls through in the deal at the last minute.
