I agree that other teams fans will downplay the hire. I think that sports news, sportswriters and talk radio will be all over it.

As much as people have made fun of UT fans for thinking that JG would coach here, it will register for sure.

I’m just not sold it will be universally lauded. I mean we’ve got the exact narrative that will be used:

Never coached college.

Been out of the game ten years.

Fired as HC.

Average record in NFL.

The people who laughed at the possibility, and the fans, won’t turn around and say, sorry, game over, you win the next decade. They’ll say, he won’t work, you’re dumb for hiring him.

I’m just saying to not expect universal adoration. But, that’s a good thing. If people are going out of their way to crap on him, it means they are worried.

Now I could see that. I had heard grumors of Sanders as leading OC candidate, just assumed that's what you were referring to. I'm sure he could handle QB's, although Gruden honestly is probably going to micromanage the BALLS off of that coaching position anyway.
