DISCIPLINE!

Maxim # 1

He will have ZERO tolerance for unnecessary mental mistakes, unforced errors, and foolish personal foul penalties.

He'll immediately get in a player's a** when they do things that harm the team. And unlike CBJ, CJG will fix it on the sideline - he won't "know more when I watch the film".

Silly, unnecessary 15 yard penalty? Hit the bench and start looking forward to your 12,000 laps Monday!

Im right there w yah.

He said the same thing almost verbatim on Nov 8. But also said Butch would be fired after vandy game. Somebody gave him wrong info.

He’ll be just fine. Gruden is a much better x’s and o’s coach than many in college football. If Dooley and Butch can win games without much of that, he’ll dominate in comparison.

I used to visit and post in these forums years ago. I have been following this thread for weeks now and thought I should join again. I could not recall my old username so created a new account. Thanks for keeping this entertaining and fun - lots of comraderie in here.
I should add that I went to the mailbox this evening and my Gruden Corona bobblehead was delivered! Possibly a sign? SOON!

I'm at 50/50, but I think the ball is in Gruden's court.

If, as we are being led to believe, money isn't an issue, the same mistakes aren't being repeated (control of team, assistant money, etc) the choice will simply come down to "do I really want this?" for Gruden.

And only he can make that choice. And we won't know until it's announced and shows at the podium.

Yeah that's highly likely what went down last Wed. night. All UT's big money boys put the package together to the best of their ability and consider it an offer he can't refuse. He,(Gruden), had a lot on his mind on TV tonight. Maybe he attempted to hide it but wasn't his norm. UT may have been forced to put a time limit on it in case he doesn't accept.

He may be their 1st option but I feel there's at least one more big name ready to accept. The boosters and AD are likely tired of coach shopping every 3-4 yrs.

ESPN Radio (sorry I don't know hosts name) just said fans and boosters are to blame for Butch's demise. Are people that blind or stupid that Butch sealed his own fate by being inept?

Better late than never...welcome back.

The game is constantly changing. Many times everything old is new again. The wildcat is the single wing. That is old school. When he had Tebow, Urban ran many triple option concepts. Wisconsin is still undefeated running the pro-set. If you watch the Iowa-OSU game, many times Iowa lined up out of the I with an actual fullback. Yes, Gruden hasn’t been an official coach in a while, but he’s never left the game. I also believe he’s smart enough to know what works and how to adapt your play style to your players. If you primarily run a read option and refuse to change, don’t recruit a drop back passer(Butch). But if you recruit the talent, and are able to adapt your style to your players(Saban) you will probably be successful. One thing I’m pretty certain of, Gruden has forgotten more about football than most of us will ever know.
