I don’t know if anyone caught it or it got lost in the troll invasion, but someone replied to Beav on Twitter asking him what it meant and he said:

“The Stalking Horse reference will make sense after the announcement.”

He hasn’t wavered one single bit. Impressive. It’s like he’s Marty McFly with the almanac.

[Beaver] is a figure that tests a concept [Gruden] with [the fan base and/or administration] on behalf of an anonymous third party [Currie]. If the idea proves viable or popular, then [Currie] can then declare his interest and advance the concept with little risk of failure.

He went on to talk about those on the fourth floor getting ready for the upcoming game, and other sports. I think the 4th floor is where athletic coaches and staff are located. He said he’d be leaning on them while he focuses on the coaching search, and I don’t think he meant to help him search. I got the impression he’s the one conducting the search and no one else. I just replayed the link and that’s still my impression but I could be misinterpreting his words.

I can save everyone a lot if time. It is safe to remove Cooter from this coaching search. I will be utterly shocked if that is the man at the podium. That is no disrespect to Jim Bob and the wonderful progress he is making as a football coach.

Ok, I've given this a considerable amount of thought.....For full disclosure: some whiskey and Copenhagen has been involved.........

We talk to Gruden....if he says no, then we quickly snip a sample of his hair.........grab the DNA and clone us our own coach!!! Dilly Dilly! amiright........??

If Mullen is hired I'm done going out of my way to watch UT football.

It will be 5 more years of the same crap, with 1 more win a year. No east championships unless he catches lightning in a bottle.

Please, no Mullen.

No, Beaver would be saddled with the failure. Not Ergen.

What I think it means is that Beaver's role in this is to pave the way.

If it fails, then he takes the fall in front of a bunch of anonymous hacks like us on the internet. The real players are not saddled with the bad result.

But, if it succeeds, then the real player(s) can step up at the last minute and take credit.

Agree. I don’t see any way we hire someone with no head coaching experience.
