I don't understand why you all are hating on Butch Jones so much. He literally brought this program back from the dead. How dare all of you fake VFLs come on here and trash a man that literally poured his heart and soul into a program. And as far as the Gruden stuff, he's not coming. Get over it. One more thing on this line of thought...

By not bringing in a search firm, the information can be controlled that much more. Currie can limit the exposure of who knows what without the potential leaks from an outside firm.

I really like this thought. Last time was awful with all the leaks and rejections, CBJ seemed like choice 4 and UT looked silly with every rejection. Turns out Stong wouldn’t have been the answer either.

The weirdest part about the people that roll up in here yelling how crazy everyone is, Gruden isn't coming blah blah blah is how MAD they seem, like legit ANGRY.

Unfortunately, no. If it's done then information will start coming out slowly but surely, and eventually something/someone will slip up. Everybody will "know" before it's officially announced, and there are a couple of things wrong with that.

1. Casts the shadow of doubt over the transparency of the program; or poor public perception

2. "Distance" is the least of their concerns. If timing happened to be a factor, they wouldn't have fired the coach in the first place until the end of the season.

Really it just comes down to the fact (what I believe) that everybody is waiting on 1 person, and that 1 person is Mr. Gruden himself. We're just waiting for the stroke of the pen

You may be right but I think it's been evident that perception is important to Currie. Also, I believe Currie when he said he thought Butch offered the best opportunity to win some games down the stretch and he kept him until the point where he believed that was no longer the case. I have no doubt that leaks will occur and I think they've already started trickling out. And distance is a factor in public perception. If they hired Gruden tomorrow they'd be no doubt they'd been working out a deal before Butch was fired. If they put some distance between it then there would be some doubt.

Now that doesn't mean he's signed something. But he could sign something soon and it still not be announced for a few days.
