I can't understand why Currie will need to take 2-3 weeks to make the world think he searched far and wide for the best coach just to announce Gruden at the end of it. Gruden is not a current coach so he can start now, doesn't matter what the world thinks. The way ESPN is losing money they would welcome not paying his salary anymore, the sooner the better for them.

I had to listen to the press conference on the radio because I was driving. After it was over Jimmy "Old News" Hyams said something very interesting, but also something we probably had already figured out. He said something to the effect of, "Currie only has a select few people within the AD in which he shares information. None of those people have relationships with anyone in the local media." I'm pretty sure that's a confession that he (or anyone else in the local media) doesn't know **** about what's going on.

Rev, I think the window is actually pretty predictable.

It won't be before the end of the season. Currie needs to spend at least a couple of weeks on the problem so it's evident he considered a reasonable number of alternatives ("did his due diligence" in the current parlance).

For much the same reason, it will probably extend at least a week beyond the end of the regular season; even if Currie had no intention of seriously considering any sitting coaches, he must let the world believe that he had time to get approvals and talk to them.

But he wants to have the new coach on board well before the 20th of December, because of the new early signing window. As much before it as he can, to give the new coaching team time to reach out and massage the egos of 20-30 young recruits.

Put all that together, and you get something like this: earliest announcement around the SEC CG (2 December); latest probably around the 10th of December.

This is even in the most extreme possible case, such as if he already has a signed contract with JG (or anyone else); even that doesn't really change this likely timeline.

So I'd look for something in that window. Maybe up to a week before, and possible as late as 4-5 days after, but probably in the window 2-10 December.

I think that’s a logical viewpoint. I hope it’s sooner and if the original date was the Monday after Vandy, I hope it still is. Would be great to have Gruden on board a week before the SECCG and then they have him as a guest in the booth. I’d just crap a brick right there. What a moment that’d be for our team.

So Casey Clausen was called to see into his interest? Who called him and what was his interest level? I assume he loves Gruden as we do.

suggest making out a Gruden Will....# 1 on the list....do NOT click on any future Official Gruden threads !
I have no desire for third time is a charm if we are on # 2 !

At my age and health I fear this will be my last coaching search..... if we do it correctly and land Gruden.... I know it will because he will be a winner here for years

One more thing on this line of thought...

By not bringing in a search firm, the information can be controlled that much more. Currie can limit the exposure of who knows what without the potential leaks from an outside firm.

Great point.

Makes me wonder how much the search process has to be documented, by law. And whether a FOIA request would reveal the details of what Currie does in this process between today and the day he announces Gruden I mean, whoever the new coach is.

Might be fascinating.

Olevolfan said ask me how I know and Garth brooks sings that. I don't know who this MR initials are.. what celebrity is that,

I'm not sure been researching myself trying to figure this out .... I originally thought he was referring to Thomas Rhett who performed this year at the CMA's and is a huge Tennessee fan who I've personally seen on the sidelines a few times. Maybe the MR is a smokescreen because he was afraid we'd figure out who he was talking about?

as long as we keep butch locked up in hangar 18, and announce gruden soon, i won't spend seasons in the abyss where it's raining blood. i won't feel like i've been cast into the lungs of hell in my darkest hour. i won't be going off the rails on a crazytrain. don't you understand that nothing else matters? that wherever i may roam, i bleed orange? i know it's sad but true, and i'm not holier than thou, but butch has drawn the shortest straw. one more game of butch will drive me to the frayed ends of sanity. i just hope gruden will hurry up, come on, jump in the fire, no remorse, seek and destroy, cause getting info from these insiders is like anesthesia pulling teeth.

i'm ready for UT to be back. i'm ready to ride the lightening, fight fire with fire, hit the lights, take no prisoners, be UF's harvester of sorrow, read bama their last rites.

SEC, these boots are made for walking. peace sells, but who's buying? these aren't my last words. and if we don't get gruden, i'll wake up dead.

nope, i ain't been saved all my life.
that was a looooong time ago.

for the record, that was all for some of you guys fun.
got your jollies.
you got it.

their's so much music in my head from my youth. it'll never come out. i don't think about it tho, until something trigger it. somebody said something about gruden being announced to a song, and .... well ... my mind went crazy.

sorry.
time to get it back in line before i freak people out.

Like I said preach, I like you man.
