I’m sitting here watching auburn vs Georgia and I can’t stop thinking about when we won the SEC versus auburn back in 97. I was with one of my best friends watching it at a bar in ‘Nooga and she said if we win I will stand on this bar and sing Rocky Top. Of course we won and the bar manager brought her a microphone so the whole damn bar could hear her. Best time I’ve ever had in my life (until 98). I just want my team to be relevant again. The Grude abides! I am all the f*** in!!!!

He did not prove himself, he won one Super Bowl with an absolutely stacked Bucs team.

After that he was mediocre at best

Here ye here ye. I actually agree that paying over $10 million may be a bit too much, but I'm ok with it because that means we are serious about winning. Also, I understand the argument that he's never been a college head coach or really had much college experience at all. I think pointing to his NFL record is comparing apples to oranges. The one thing I know is that Gruden has one of the best football IQs in the game. Plus he's just a football guy.

At Tennessee he would surround himself with the best coaches to develop our players and have our team prepared to win. Elite recruits would come swarming to learn from Gruden and the staff he assembles. So while I understand why some people are weary of Gruden himself, you all should be excited because he's smart enough to surround himself with proven winners and actually allow them to do their job to put our program in the best position to win. I think he would win here, and win big.

I think old Coasty lured y'all into his trap. He is all in, but wants to temper his excitement with the realism that 2012 brought to us. JMO. No source.

A STFU and GTFO. Felt bad giving his wife one a minute ago...I guess we'll cut him slack and hope his reverse psychology method delivers the GRUDE very SOON!

I’ve been here long enough to know when I’m done, but thanks for your input 😁

Don't leave just consider how enthusiastic the fan base is over this potential hire. Whole lot better than we've been force fed last two hires. And wait to see contract terms before the outrage.

And THANK YOU for a reasonable post, well debated post.

Lmao, no one is crying.

Just said it was stupid 😁

Will you still think it's stupid if we win the east? Beat all of our main rivals in one year? Finish the season with a top 10 ranking? Have back to back top 5 or better recruiting classes? Make it relevant again?

Before you say I have no idea whether or not Gruden can do all of things, you have no way of knowing that he won't.

If Gruden can do those things then he will be worth every penny to the university because it will be returned to them 100 fold.

If he can't at least they gave it a shot.

But there are no guarantees with any coach out there, not even Saban.

So claim we are all stupid bit Gruden gives us that chance.

And besides Behr said, it ain't my money so why whine about it?

I’m waving the white flag, I AM PRO-GRUDEN

I simply stated that I think it’s stupid to pay him a base of 10.

The butthurt with some of you is real

I don't think that's the case. I think it's <$10M (e.g. $7M) with an "up to 10.2M" structure. In your opinion, would that still be stupid?

Edit: saw you mentioned you were ok with the incentive structure. Nothing to see here. Carry on :good!:
