Ever been to Starkville Mississippi?
They don’t have the facilities
They don’t have the resources
They definitely don’t have the budget

All of which he would have instantly at Tennessee

Oh, there’s that time he took them to #1 too. When’s the last time Tennessee was ranked that high?

That's your argument? Kinda weak. Champions get it done

Holy crap guys....I just got a call from a VERY good friend in the AD that will give this thread a reason to believe. I will leave it at that as to not out my friend. You can look through my post history and see I have not always been a believer, this call took me from a 0% to a 65-70%. There is a chance.

I have seen this exact post before. No kidding. Exact post a few Gruden threads ago. Nice try.

Your post that a friend inside the AD called you with this info, really solidifies my theory on the timing, which is as follows:
-I don't think Butch can do anything to stay an extra week or lose an extra week. I think this all comes down to getting the ink dry on Gruden, and him getting whatever pieces in place (OC, DC) that he wants before the announcement is made. I think Currie wants to do it all within 48 hours, and likely less time than that. I think that you getting a phone call from someone within the AD demonstrates a significant shift in what is going on there. More people have to know to get paperwork together and other administrative duties, in order for the announcement to be made.

I think the train might really be starting to pull into the station. I don't think they would make any announcements prior to Saturday's game, but I honestly don't think the timing of this has squat to do with the current team, bowl eligibility, or Butch's record (criminal or otherwise).

I agree with your premise. But Are you suggesting that you think it will happen during the season? I just don’t see it at this point. Not going to hurt anything by waiting two weeks, damage has been done but Gruden fixes that damage, whether it’s monday the 13th or Monday the 27th.

I just think that the season is wwwwaaaayyyy far down on the list of reasons to announce or not announce.

What do you think is the main factor with the timing?

I'm currently liking the "Gruden as FFCA honcho doesn't want to appear to be poaching the job" theory.

Just spoke with a friend in the AD. Currie had Haslam come in yesterday. Haslam gave a "Leadership" speach to the athletics department. Butch, Haslam, and Currie were extremely buddy-buddy. The mood around the office is that Butch is staying and that Currie is trying to get everyone on board with it.

"Hey everyone, Haslam is here. He likes Butch. So we should all like Butch. Hooray!"

I wouldn't say I have "stats" but as you can see by my posts I don't post just to post. I wouldn't throw s*** to the wall just to see if it sticks. Again, I am not saying I was told that Gruden is in or some BS - but I was told about specific measures and pieces falling into place that gave me reason to believe. I'm not 100% in, but I was at a 0 before the call.

Its a wonder anyone shares info with you peckers.

I think he's getting some pieces in place before the announcement. I think he is looking for the maximum boom.

Edited to add: I think they're all looking for maximum boom.

You lost me at "VERY good friend in the AD". Thus far, it seems very little if ANY of the information has come from the AD side of things. Currie's running a tight ship and nothing will come from the AD side as long as Butch is still the HC.

I’m an engineer and have a co-worker who lives on sand mountain. He is actually one of the smartest guys I’ve met, and excels in what we call “sand mountain ingenuity”. He could fix a 3 inch water line blow out with some duct tape, gorilla glue, and zip ties if he wanted to.

That guy is trolling you hard. Anybody could do that with gorilla glue.

Chris Landry on Bill King's show just said that no one in the NFL wants Gruden and that he is way overrated as a coach. Says he struggled with young players and basically ran Tampa Bay into the ground. Said Tennessee can get a way better coach for half the price.

i hope no one in the nfl wants him ... makes the chances of us getting him greater.

win/win

Lot of suspense, build up, crazy twists and a fan base on an edge so fine you could slice a hair with it leads to maximum boomage.

It. Will. Be. Crazy.

I have been watching this recruiting thing and I really think we should not be all that worried. Granted Butch has recruited well but I think if you bring in Gruden what kid in America would not listen to what he has to say.

I think the early signing date is 12/20 (????) . Cade Mays and the like are just looking around to see what is out there and you really can't blame them but with a new coach like Gruden we will get a whole new look from more top players.

Everybody knows that the big dream of every high school player is to play in the NFL and who in the coaching circles in college football knows more about that game and the people that matter ( Coaches, Owners, Scouts, Agents ) than he does......nobody and that includes Saben and anyone else you can think of.

I really hope and believe bright days are ahead and THE BIG ORANGE will mean something again.

It is time ......thistime
