No one else is hiring until after the last game either, it appears. I'm not going to get really worried until next Tuesday rolls around and nothing has happened.

I truly believe the part about him wanting to respect the current coaches. He went through a firing, and runs the FFCA, so he, of all people, would have the current administration's coaches' best interests in mind, and is being understanding of them all (potentially) losing their jobs in the next week.

He probably did sign last Wednesday. I think plenty of information leaked out that day and evening, and then was quickly squashed out by all the negative information released in the following days because of Gruden's wish to delay announcement until after the season.

I feel the same way. I think signed the deal Wednesday. He's probably been putting a staff together the last few days.

With the likes of Tee Martin and Kevin Steele being mentioned as possible assistants, I'm not surprised that they are waiting until after the championship games to announce the hire.

I think we hear news of hire leak on Dec. 2nd around the time of the SEC Championship Game.

Dec. 2nd - media leaks that Gruden has agreed to be the Tennessee coach

Dec. 3rd - formal press conference

Positives of picking these dates:

We get to own the sports cycle on two of the most important dates on the college football calender. Championship Saturday and the day the final playoff rankings are revealed.

This would be an ingenious move by UT. We could upstage the SEC Championship Game by leaking the Gruden news at halftime of the game. That would make us as big a story as whoever wins the game afterwards.

Then the following Sunday we can have the Gruden press conference right before the final playoffs rankings are revealed. That way we'll be the story that leads off the big show on ESPN.

I could see this being the plan.
