Official grief thread

UT has been the laughing stock and it’s not due to this hire. What’s funny are delusional fans that can’t accept how far the program has fallen.
We've fallen because people don't get it, they don't care. When you are cashing 35-50 million dollar 💰 TV deal checks. All you need is two teams from your conference to be competing for the Natty. The rest can kick back pay their 3-4.5 million a year coach . That's the reality of it. Accept this and you will accept mediocre 🏈.

I've already posted it elsewhere. You've posted L's as a reason we should hire the guy. Come on.
again. i said the 77% winning pct, conference title, getting a midmajor to a major bowl game and having one of the best offenses consistently is a reason we should be positive about it.
It is irrational to say he definitely will fail here without any reason other than "dur hE felL off FrOM 12-1 to 6-4 in 2 yeaRs" without actually understanding the details around his team the past season

I understand the details. I also understand that there are coaches out there that overperform and do well in spite of things that happened this season. I also understand that we've hired offensive gurus with decent records at crappy lower-tier schools in the past and they've failed. I also understand that this guy's recruiting is moving the wrong way. I understand that we just had to settle on a goober that came from the same school our AD came from. I understand that no matter how much you seem to want to sugarcoat this turd, all of these factors rolled up together are much more likely to point at this being another steaming pile of failure than a 'good hire'.

He will fail here because his recruiting sucks and he has never built a program...and he will be competing in the best conference in college football.

Pruitt had a better chance at success vs Heupel. This is a dead hire.

Guess we will see what happens...Pruitt is not better though

and again who do you think they should've hired?

and again who do you think they should've hired?

I think they should have looked at Chadwell or Napier, realistically, or anyone with experience building a program. I don't think either of those men were contacted, and both are trending the right way in spite of the COVID season. Heupel is moving the wrong way, and the same argument about Butch riding coattails could just as easily apply to this guy.

Again, I've already answered this.

If your finding today rather depressing here's the place to cuss and complain.

Sincerest salute to you, Sad_vol, for turning your disappointment into a true Vol community service. That's a great example for anyone of any age in any situation.

Neither is what is needed a UT.
3 years .
Rinse, repeat.

this dude hasn't had a losing season as a HEAD COACH.
Hasn't had a full slate of his own players yet either... and has regressed as the other guys recruits left... in a weak conference. I just hope we aren't paying much for this dumpster fire.

9 losses here we come

They're likely doing it based on knowing you.
Well, considering two of them took the initiative to message me and laugh at it, and looking at other fans around the internet laughing at it, it's much more likely that they're doing it because this is a joke hire.

And at least I have friends. (I'm trying to match your juvenile style here, bear with me. I grew out of this level of ******** 20 years ago).

Pumped his record by beating bad teams? WTF did Heupel do then? This is an even dumber argument than you made before, honestly.

His record is regressing. Great coaches typically don't have that happen, and they almost always get more out of less. He's moving the wrong way and getting less with less, and he doesn't have anywhere near the history to just pass it off as nothing.

My 'conclusions' are predictions. You're building a strawman and coming after me on a message board where everyone is entitled to their own 'conclusions'. Again, I am just as justified in my 'conclusion' as you are in yours, IF NOT MORE SO, and you've done nothing to make a point.
Wow.

You're a piece of work. "coming after you"? Remember... that's pretty much the nature of a "message board". Post ideas. Others disagree and post reasons why.

Why you would want to assume the worst at this point is just beyond me.

Have you read the article on UTSports about him and his work at Mizzou? You might help yourself by doing so. UT hasn't just been losing. UT has been losing with totally anemic offense.

He literally took Mizzou from worst to first in offense in a single off-season. Hooker and the speed UT has at WR could at least make the O fun to watch. Everywhere he's gone it appears to be instant offense. Finding the right DC will probably be the difference maker for him.

I posted in another thread the bio from the UT website about Pruitt. It reads just as gloriously.

You're rolling in here trying to throw propaganda in my face over a hire that doesn't pass the smell test at all. Note how you haven't even tried to refute anything I've posted at this stage.

You lose.

Maybe he'll bring the guy from UCF

It has to be a homerun whatever he does. If he cannot get a clear upgrade then I think Steele should stay. Difficult to imagine that Steele won't have some job at UT considering that he was just hired.
