Official Greg Schiano thread

I often wonder if people in the AD create accounts to use to test support in the fan base. If this guy was that type of account, the strong negative response was certainly ignored.

Or maybe it was Jimmy H....

No the Haslams got waylayed by that. Had they been testing support or monitoring us, they would have linked articles to refute the Washington Post story to try and get ahead of it. And if that failed, they would still have had time to redirect the search to someone else or cancel the trip before the plane got to Columbus.

No, if anything was happening, the anti-Haslam faction had people hard at work. That much is obvious.

So has anybody snatched up this head coaching genius in waiting yet? I’ve been google stalking and can’t find a single nibble. Did I miss anything?

Probably not, but he may not be taking calls right now. If he were getting offers, that would hurt the defamation of character suit he now has grounds for.

It's interesting, many of you defended AJ Johnson and victim blamed, but criticize Schiano. Someone was just TOLD Schiano saw something, he didn't actually see Schiano see it. Big difference. We can (and it looks like we will) do a lot worse than Schiano.

Let me remind you, AJ Johnson raped a woman. Don't give me any "he isn't guilty yet" crap after already finding Schiano guilty in your minds off hearsay.

Damn. Tone deaf much?! The AJ stuff, guilty or not, is EXACTLY why we can’t have somebody with the baggage of Schiano. After the recent title ix settlement and ongoing litigation we don’t need the association.

I didn't want him either, I've made it clear who I want. Both on here and to Fulmer through a message with his secretary. I'm just saying, all the defenses of AJ Johnson before and now this.

I don't even regard his possible connection to the scandal at PSU before I take the fact that he's a terrible head coach and by many, many accounts a real POS of a human being. I'm already at "never on my radar"...toss in the other stuff and I'm at "this was a bad joke."

SchiaNO is dead to us. Move on. Volnation was never gonna accept a terrible coach with sketchy background.

And we didn’t keep aj around either

You’re right. Hate on butch but he had no choice. He had to separate the team and I absolutely hated that for the two young men. For title ix guilt is irrelevant. Just put a story line out about a toxic culture and you get paid.

I really wanted UT to fight that case instead of settle. However I knew settle and make it go away was the right choice at the time. And now this self imposed fiasco. SMDH.

Ok lets just forget about the PSU stuff for a minute and focus on the bolded. How do you propose this? Schiano was mediocre at Rutgers. You can argue he rebuilt them all you want and that they were terrible but you are what your record says you are. And he was mediocre.

Now lets get to the point. Lets just use some current info we have. Currently, it seems like we are targeting Les Miles. Now, for arguments sake, I will just assume you no nothing of Miles. Lets compare records shall we?

Greg Schiano at Rutgers- 68-67

Les Miles at LSU- 114-34

So please, by all means, explain how we are likely going to hire a coach worse than Greg Schiano.

See what I'm saying? The two young men are rapists. Say that to yourself slowly.

Right?!? Schiano was the worst possible choice and only served to make this publicity all the worse. Thanks Jimmy Haslam and your love of being a loser.

Actually, they may not be. The accusers have destroyed evidence, that much we know to be true. It is very sad, however, that it took so much effort to keep that from being suppressed and that it hasn't even gone to trial yet after this long and lives have been ruined.

If anyone thought Les was worth a damn, he would have gotten hired already.

Nope, we use the Schiano standard. It was alleged so it must be true. I don't dispute he isn't a home run coach, I simply hate how his name was connected to the PSU scandal because someone told Mcqueary that Mcqueary had no direct knowledge of.

Nope, I never used the schiano standard. But if you wanna, then don't let the fact that it's a sworn affidavit submitted in a court of law get in the way. I don't like that it got drug through the mud, but if you don't think we would catch hell about it from The same media defending him now you're being incredibly naive.

Incorrect on the Schiano standard. The association is there so stay the hell away period. Nice try at modifying the narrative but due to this history alone he has always been toxic to me regardless of whether he saw anything or not. If he had aggressively defended his character and attacked McQuearys testimony then that’s different. He issued a weak ass twitter denial.

UT did exactly what the should have done with AJ and Williams. They had no choice.

Why didn't Schiano get that right? Should AJ Johnson lose out on career opportunities because he was accused?

UT owes Schiano nothing. We do not “owe” him a coaching job regardless of what he may or may not saw. Let that sink in.

Edit: and AJs career has mostly likely sailed too. Even if he’s found innocent. Don’t really understand why you are arguing this. They are both toxic.

AJ's case still isn't resolved even after 3 years and is headed for trial in January. I will also add isn't it interesting that the prosecution in AJ's case fought and appealled not to have text messages/social media allowed in court. There was, in AJ's case at least, a prior relationship and the prosecution obviously felt those texts would hurt the case. I am not saying he is innocent or guilty, but the delays in court at least give reason for doubt.
With Schiano he was specifically identified under oath as to "coming in looking white as a ghost after witnessing Sandusky and a boy"... Schiano has denied this accusation but that is it that I know of in his response. He hasn't countered himself with a defamation/slander lawsuit against this SERIOUS accusation.

I would also remind you that Jimmy Haslam said he knew nothing of the "rebate scam" at PILOT. So I guess since he, just like Schiano, said he was not involved we should take their word for it. AND THEN CAME THOSE TAPES OF HASLAM IN THE MEETING ROOM WITH THE BIG WIGS WHICH DIRECTLY IMPLICATE HIM. So innocent until proven guilty, but that doesn't mean they can't be lying also.
