Schiano, who was 25 at the time, saw something and told Bradley
He also made a terrible mistake by not following up with higher ups when nothing happened.
That said I can't condemn him for the crimes of Sandusky...lots of people failed those kids notably Paterno

Tennessee deserves better and the one silver lining in all of this so far has been that we've shown that most of us still have morals, proud that my state wants that guy nowhere near it.

I’m sorry, but many of you seem to know FOR SURE what he did and did not know. Your basing it off of one article that quotes McQueary saying he remembers Bradley telling a story about what Bradley heard Schiano say he saw. Both men have denied this happened or that they saw anything. That’s basically NOTHING to go on, yet so many are firm that they know what happened. There’s zero evidence to support this, if there was another person in the room that can corroborate Bradley’s supposed story then you have something. Schiano has been vetted thoroughly multiple times for jobs and no employer has turned up any proof backing up McQueary’s story. Before you label Schiano as anything, take a second and think about the reality of this situation. We don’t actually know anything, we know Mike McQueary threw out an accusation and nothing came of it. No criminal conspiracy charges, just vague implication that some staff knew what was happening. If you want to say you know FOR SURE what Schiano did or didn’t do then you’re just wrong.

Lots of hate here for Greg Schiano, including people threatening to 'turn in their fan card,' or something. First of all, if you're going to stop following UT over a coach, sorry but you were never much of a fan in the first place. Sure, I would have preferred Frost, Gruden, Kiffen, or especially Chris Peterson, but if UT hires Schiano we need to get behind him and look at the positives - and there are PLENTY.

To those who say nobody wanted Schiano, consider this Meyer quote before the start of the year:

"He was offered two head coaching jobs -- two significant head coaching jobs -- and he made a decision to come back," Meyer said when asked by NJ Advance Media. "I've known Greg for a long time -- and he's a head coach. He will be a head coach (again)."

One of these included Oregon before Taggart was hired.

Schiano is a guy who knows how to build a program, and succeeded massively at a place (Rutgers) that had zero football tradition. If he can recruit Rutgers, I think he can recruit Tennessee.

And he's a solid recruiter. This piece calls Schiano Ohio State's 'unsung hero' on the recruiting trail.

And how about this headline from last year: "Urban Meyer’s best recruiting job at Ohio State: Keeping Greg Schiano for 2 years."

Also, this piece about Mark May giving Schiano a lot of credit for what Ohio State has accomplished this year.

The Penn State stuff is hearsay at best, but Schiano is a serious hire, a great recruiter who is well regarded in the coaching community. Even discounting what we know about how previous coaches actually would end up performing at UT, Schiano has a more solid resume than any previous hire since Majors.

So, if Schiano is the hire let's get behind him and give him a shot. Expressing hate on Volnation and elsewhere isn't going to do any good and certainly isn't going to help recruiting.

It doesn't really matter if he did or didn't know. There is the preception. I can't have another season of House of Cards based on an acquisition. In today's climate about sexual abuse it is not a good hire and its going to backfire horribly. This will be epic negative recruiting fodder.

He was hired on at OSU before the testimony was unsealed indicating Schiano knew about the sex abuse. and once this report came out, there was backlash at OSU but he was already on staff.

Exactly. How would anyone here like to be denied future employment based on such 'evidence?' There's a reason the Biblical standard for conviction is 'two witnesses.' Any one person can 'allege' anything, and even at that recollections of events decades ago are fuzzy at best.

Because you know for a fact that he was not aware of the happenings at PSU? With the mere chance of him knowing, we do not need this at our university. Not sure you have even been watching Tn football as of late, we can not get any worse than this years.
