figured you for an AMC Gremlin
You mean besides fishing on Douglas or Chick instead? Hahaha!@norrislakevol
You got any tips for fishing on Norris in late April? Preferably close to Maynardville.
Excellent post, many thanks! You mean besides fishing on Douglas or Chick instead? Hahaha!
Depends on timing of the spawn for both largemouth and smallmouth. It looks like it will be a timely spawn this year so long as we don't see a weather patter change. If you put in at the free launch at 33 bridge, you can fish within 10 miles in either direction for small mouth. Find the fish on your graph in 15 to 30 feet of water and target them using small jigs or tube baits. A texas rigged fluke or caffeine shad in green pumkin works well after dark when the fish often move shallower. Fish SLOW, dragging the bait and targeting points, ledges, and boulders with gravel around them.
The largemouth may be in spawn, but not all spawn at the same time in a lake as large as Norris. Depending on where the water levels were when they chose a spawning site will depend on whether you should concentrate on brush and bushes, or large rocks and rocky points. If the water was up when started spawning, they'll be on wood, if it was low, they'll be on rocks. Won't take long for you to find out. Keep it simple and fish no deeper than 10 feet deep. Use your eyes to find the structure an target it with a Texas rigged trick worm or small to medium sized ribbon tails in red or purple colors. Texas rigged flukes work too. Keep moving until you develop a pattern and then keep replicating that. The 33 bridge area is good, but if you want to try something different, then go put in in the Sycamore creek area in Claiborne county. It's a whole different lake up there and can be feast or famine. If you want to crappie fish then this would be the place to be as well.
If the moon is out, the main section of the lake closer to the Loyston sea can yield some walleye casting the banks with silver and black colored deep diving smithwicks and storm lures in the same color after dark.
Are you gonna be in Union County? I’m gonna be there end of May. I grew on Norris and fished all up and down the Clinch side. And have zero relevant knowledge now. Looks like NLV took care of you@norrislakevol

Damn man I'm really sorry to hear that. That has to be tough and it's in my future as well.Having to move Dad to an Assisted Living Memory Care Facility tomorrow, he can no longer care for himself at all and I can no longer care for him in the capacity that he needs. I’m sad and nervous to the point of being sick.
It does suck. The knowledge you did all you could for as long as you could will give you some solace as the years pass.Having to move Dad to an Assisted Living Memory Care Facility tomorrow, he can no longer care for himself at all and I can no longer care for him in the capacity that he needs. I’m sad and nervous to the point of being sick. I have dreaded this day for a long time and while I knew it would more than likely take place I still am having a hard time coping with it. He’s not in favor even though he knows he needs it. This just sucks!
