Official Election Day Meltdown Thread

This is the second writer for a high profile newspaper in so many days to call for Trumps assassination:

Media. Not just some weirdo tweeting from their moms basement. Yet it's Donald Trump supporters that are violent....

Lock HER up.

Just seems we get a constant characterization from the left that the right is violent, unhinged and unpredictable but almost all protest (and protest/riot) is from the left.

And part of the justification for the left protests is that it is a reaction to the right because they are violent, unhinged and unpredictable! It's Twilight Zone worthy.

It sure is

should be locked up

Google 'Rankin vs McPherson', a Supreme Court case from 1987. As reprehensible as this type of comment is, it's protected by the 1st amendment. Ardith McPherson was fired from her job when, after hearing that President Ronald Reagan had been shot but would survive, said openly, "Shoot, next time I hope they get him." She sued for wrongful termination and following years in court, eventually won the case when it went to the Supreme Court. The court ruled that only a direct threat against the President is illegal. Simply advocating for a lethal act of violence is considered political commentary.

The double standard in the media is mind blowing. Can you imagine the fallout if someone suggested assassinating Obama or Hillary?

Hope she enjoyed her career

I have wondered why the .gov gives a **** about how much you put into your retirement. I would put about 3x what I am putting in right now if I could. Why is it limited? Do they think I am automatically going to spend it? You know, to stimulate the economy?

Saving is terrible for the economy. Borrow, spend, borrow, spend, rinse, repeat.

You know she is getting a promotion and a massive raise in today's media

She is not being fired unless her employer has a policy against this type of violent advocacy - which it may. I tend to doubt though, that she would be so cavalier with this type of remark if she thought it would receive anything but a full endorsement from those she works for... and again this was not illegal (Rankin vs McPherson 1987). This is covered by the 1st amendment.

If this was about assassinating Clinton HR would have her out on her ass so fast her head would spin.

The Bolshevik, I mean democrat, party of Hate is in shambles. They only have pensioners Pocahontas and Uncle Bernie to lead them out of the wilderness.

How pathetic is that?

I'm no constitutional scholar but I'm pretty sure you can't go around talking about assassinating the president, that's got to be a felony.

I'd wager that 1a doesn't cover that.

Rankin vs McPherson seems to apply only to government officials and specifically excludes threats to the prez.

You are wrong. You just can't make direct threats to the president. If she had said, "It's time for me to assassinate the president." then she would be getting a visit from the Secret Service and be in a lot of trouble - that's not what she said, however. Just like in Rankin v McPherson, this is political commentary... and it did involve the advocacy of the assassination of President Reagan. Ardith McPherson was caught specifically saying that she hoped Reagan would be assassinated.

Edit: She still may get a visit from the Secret Service anyway. They don't play games with this type of thing.

"It's about time for a presidential assassination" isn't significantly different by removing the words "by me". That could easily be inferred.

Political commentary involves the advocation of murder in your world?

Nope... that is how the Supreme Court of the United States defined it in 1987, however.

They hate old, white guys and love Bernie. Strange, or we've completely missed the short bus.

Anyone remember when Obama won how people said the Republican party was done for? And does anyone remember the freak outs and riots that proved that?

Oh wait..its the democrats rioting in the streets, committing acts of violence (not out of the norm really), and crying about the need to destroy their party.

Libtard tears of unfathomable sadness are delicious!

So is it illegal to use Hillary facsimilies for target practice? I always wondered if "It takes a village" would contain a .223 from 50 yards. It is pretty thick, but bull**** is soft.

Having trouble sleeping tonight, so I got up and have been watching videos of the libs crying and screaming. It is actually pretty damned hilarious and pathetic at the same time. No, maybe disturbing if you really think about it.

And yes I am a little late to this particular party, but I like this Alex Jones fella. Some of his stuff is a riot (the good kind of riot)
