i have been waiting on seeing the return of depth on this chart for a long time. Good times are ahead for the vols i Hope! Huge class imo. Biggest class in terms of quality depth that we have lacked last 4 to 6 years! Love seeing quality OL with quality backups! And we are completey stacked at db now geez!!

I don't see both Lane and Smith getting redshirted at RB.

I would watch for Antonio Richardson maybe overtaking Dallas Thomas at LT at some point in the season.

I would also watch for DeAnthony Arnett at slot. I agree Zack gets the starting nod at first, but if Arnett comes in as good as advertised, watch out.

Don't see AJ starting over Probst at MLB, and I sure as hell don't see Askew ahead of Probst on the depth chart. The staff is high on Probst's abilities at MLB.

Also don't see Devrin Young or Pat Martin playing CB. Devrin Young will not redshirt because he will be a factor in the KR game, and I'm pretty sure Martin will be a S.

Brewer really showed great promise at S last year so I doubt Randolph jumps him for that spot unless they decide to move Brewer to LB which I doubt.

I see Ben Martin starting over Miller at DE. I think Miller might be used at DT this season.

Great list though overall it looks pretty accurate to me except in a few spots. Those were just my opinion though. I'm looking forward to see how the roster pans out.

It's a good start. Good to see the options this staff has.

What are the thoughts on B Moore playing safety and Janzen playing corner?

I think Arnett could beat out Rodgers and Maggit could be a starter as well.

I doubt we're going to line up Arnett at wideout. There's a chance if we're going only 2 WR that he gets more time than Rodgers(doubtful imo) but you usually don't put a 6'1" 165 lb guy on the outside. He's extremely quick so his best chance to start will be in the slot.

That is where I have him. The op showed Rodgers starting in the slot position with arnett at number 2 in the depth chart. I agree that he would be more of a slot player but that he could beat out Rodgers to do so.

Many think that would be a better roster move, but I'm not sure.

Byron Moore said that he was being recruited to play CB here so I assume that is what he will play. Although I did see that Hubbs said it is in the staff's plans to move Janzen to CB. I definitely don't see Moore and Janzen at CB. One will be a safety and one a cornerback.

Janzen stays at S and Moore at CB, IMO.

Dallas Thomas as a PR and KR. Is there another Dallas Thomas or are you talking about the OT. Id like to see a 300 pound lineman returing punts, might break a few tackles.

Heard he was inspired by that Browns center that scored the touchdown in the Pro Bowl. Dooley has apparently bought into it. TIFWIW

Austin Johnson will start at MLB, period. If we have a good back-up, they may see significant minutes, but Austin will be the starter.

A) V Dallas is a slot receiver.

B) I do not understand why people think a freshman can come in and immediately be the leader of a defense at Mike. AJ is immensely talented but he won't come in and start. Look for Propst or Johnson there unless AJ just comes in and soaks up the playbook like a sponge.

C) With Toney still not showing signs of being 100% I don't think Tom Smith redshirts.

D) Randolph won't instantly come in and overtake Brewer. He will get reps but Brewer is our man at SS.

E) Go Vols.

waggner is gonna start. hes the only all sec player he have

He's a ball hawk/big play guy in terms of getting turnovers but as an every down player he isn't very good imo. He's gotten burned/broken coverage/beat several times from games I've watched. He is by no means a lock down corner. Unfortunately, I think you're right.

I'd like to see JJ at corner but he's too valuable at FS.

so I know that DT is not a strong spot, but last year I felt horrible about this position and they did...well, they held up.

Now we have Couch, Jackson, Walls, and Hughes. I feel much better this year.

Our OL has a little bit of depth and is going to be bigger and stronger (hopefully)

The position I am terrified about this year is LB. So let's see what happens....

LB ... If Lathers makes timely recovery from surgery, I won't be too concerned about this position. Returnees with some playin time: Austin Johnson, King, Probst, Vereen, Mitchell-Thornton, and Crump who is not getting much notice. If we lost 3 senior lbs in Thompson, Reveiz and Frazier, then we got young talent coming in in A.J. Johnson, Martaze Jackson and Maggitt, assuming he stays at LB. Hoping Lathers and King will be 100% by Labor Day. I think Crump and Martaze will be the sleepers. We'll know more by end of spring practice.
