Official: Danny White hired as AD

Here are 5 i would talk to

David Shaw
Paul Chryst
Tom Allen
Mike Gundy
PJ Fleck
Mike Gundy has done been offered 7 million and turned it down. The other ones no way I would even consider giving 7 to 9 million for maybe Shaw MAYBE because that is what Saban and Kirby Smart makes. For that much money it had better be a huge name.

Some rumors are out there that Danny White was actually the only person interviewed for the UT AD position. UT used a search firm and rumored none of the other potential candidates and especially those with solid UT connections were never contacted nor interviewed. Nothing has also been said as to who is going to pay the $2.5 million dollar "buy out" for White. White obviously has excellent credentials, but it is totally unfair that absolutely none of the other potential AD candidates as rumored were even contacted nor interviewed.

sounds like you may be one of those “other AD candidates“ spouse? Sorry mam but we are not adhering to any PC hiring practices here.

“Kiffin had arguably the biggest underachieving season in the history of college football.... In the total history of all of football.”
Something is amiss here.—kiffins season and winning record was not “underachieving.“ granted coming in behind a dismal prior season.
2005 Preseason #3 and going 5-6 is “underachieving” As is #18 preseason and going 5-7.

I think he will hire a hungry.. roll up sleeves guy.

I think we go with someone who would more hungry .. not someone who has been at a high level job already .. so none of these I would entertain..

I don’t personally feel like Shaw would be a good fit at Tennessee or maybe in the SEC period. I do think he is a good coach though. I like to see schools like Stanford do well in football.

Would you settle for Cut?
I’ve said it before on here. When Cut seemed to be a possibility after Kiffin left I was against it because it wasn’t the kind of flashy hire that at the time I thought UT still had the program power to make.

From that I learned that I have no business choosing a football coach. Had that deal ended up happening I don’t necessarily think that Tennessee would be kicking the ass out of everyone from then to this point but I am 100% certain we wouldn’t have seen any of the foolishness that we have seen out of the program and on the field during the last decade. I’m also certain that we would’ve seen some great QB play during that time. Cut is awesome.

This coaching hire will be about who the mannings want to see coach arch.
I don’t think the Manning’s will steer Arch to UT. Archie didn’t steer Peyton to Ole Miss because it wasn’t what was best for his son. At least that’s what I’ve gathered from everything I’ve ever watched or read. And I’m sure Archie loves Ole Miss the way Peyton loves UT.

But that’s just my opinion. Honestly if I were the Manning’s I would steer Arch toward Duke. For the opportunity to be coached by probably the best Pro style QB guru ever and more importantly the chance to hold a degree from Duke University. And if he’s good enough to be a great pro QB, the scouts will notice him regardless of the school.

He left Tennessee after one year for his dream job that had him as their 5th or 6th option. Kiffin wasn't even on their radar until they started getting told no.

And no one on this board or fan base would have a problem if was the other way around where someone left a job after one year to come to Tennessee because it was their dream job.

People still hung up on something from 2010 are not smart people.
I don’t care if I were the coach of Notre Dame, Michigan, tOSU, Bama, Oklahoma, Texas or anywhere else. If Tennessee came calling I’d be gone. In the middle of the night if necessary. Not negotiable. And if I needed to poach some recruits from my old program to help make Tennessee better I’d do just that. It’s business and a cutthroat one at that. My bag man department would be 110% squared away and on point. “Integrity” and “winning the right way” doesn’t put trophies in the case and millions of dollars in my bank account. I’m here to win. End of story. That might even be my slogan. There is no loyalty from either side. Coach or school.

Would you settle for Cut?
Yes and there is a lot of connection with Danny White and coach Cutcliffe. Danny's father is AD at Duke. Danny's father is retiring this year so Coach Cut would have a new AD at Duke. Danny has been friends with Coach Cut for over 15yrs. I do not think Cut is the guy but you never know.

Having the right leader at the top is vital. I don’t have the knowledge of this guy to be certain, but it sounds like he is a very good hire from everything I’m now reading.

If he’s that good, he needs to be left alone to find and hire the new head football coach. I remain skeptical because this university has failed over and over again for 15+ years to get almost anything right. However, let’s hope this starts a positive trend.
