We’re bound to hit jackpot eventually if we keep spinning the wheel but the concern now is if we couldn’t get a good one before, how do we suddenly become attractive when we’re on probation?

I agree, we need a culture change. But what is a proven coach’s? Does it have to be a P5 HC? Some will argue anyone without experience as a P5 HC is just UT trying to take the cheap route, although I would disagree with them. It seems some of our fans think we still hold the same public perception as we did back in the 90’s, and we could get most any coach we wanted. That’s not the case right now, and we likely are going to hire someone that has some questions they will have to answer. To think we can hire a “cant miss, home run” guy right now is, IMO, wishful thinking.

I don’t want him as our HC. If he’d went after an HC job today I think his results would be night and day since his Baylor failure.
We need an energetic firecracker that is proven and can motivate players beyond their limits.

On Freeze, it's a hard spin to fire Pruitt for violations, then offer redemption to Freeze.

You pretty much shot down a lot with that post, but all seems reasonable to me.

Could you imagine the optics and stories if Fulmer leaves....again...and it takes Spurrier to fix what is wrong in Knoxville?

That wasn’t the question, it was a comparison of Steele and Pruitt as head coaches. Check the state of Baylor when Steele was there too, context helps. Regardless, Pruitt is still top three worst hires in our history.

I don’t want him to be the HC here. It’s an offensive game now...high scoring with bend/don’t break defenses for the majority in college football including this conference. We need an exciting younger hire but with a track record of winning/building a winning program. But to say he’s the same guy now as back then is bull $#!t.View attachment 340573

Barring us winning the East, Steele should not be viewed as a candidate to become permanent coach.

Under Freeze, the Ole Miss football program committed various recruiting and academic violations that figured in the NCAA's decision to expunge 27 of Freeze's wins and ban it from post-season play for two years. He resigned from Ole Miss after officials discovered that he had used a university cellphone to call escort services multiple times over the course of five years. NO WAY

that kind crap is what got the program where it’s at today. Somebody is going to have to grow a pair and give the powers that be the hard truth on the state of “the brand”, and everything that goes with it. Like it or not, this is no longer a premier job, it can be, but is far from that right now. Too many yes men and folks going with the flow never ends well.
