I agree with the logic. If you were ever going to pull the trigger might as well do it now.Gonna say it . Freeze to the Hill! Out of all the bad hires we have had I can handle a GOOD coach with a little baggage. After reading a lot of these reports of what he had done and knowing how the media likes to dash a little BS to it give the man another chance. We’re already at rock bottom only up from here.
Right he hasn't been given another head coaching job in 18 years. It took a real coach like Art Briles to turn them around. WE need to be turned around. WE need a culture change. WE need a proven coach.
I don’t want him as our HC. If he’d went after an HC job today I think his results would be night and day since his Baylor failure.Right he hasn't been given another head coaching job in 18 years. Malzahan- with Steele on staff has zero chance. Steele tried to undermine Gus.
Freeze- we all would love it but we also know it will never happen. TN doesn’t believe in redemption.
Fisher- old school coach. Been out of coaching for 5 years. Got progressively worse and has never coached at the college level or recruited.
Steele- big time HC loser. Tons of experience as a coordinator.
Marrone- loser with some college experience
Got it. Logic has left the building and you are just pissed and venting. Fair enough.
The issue is a lack of effective leadership that understands how to build and maintain a successful athletic department. The leadership void may include but is higher than the AD office. It looks like too many egos wanting to prove they are right versus what is right for UT athletics.[/QUOTE
Put simply . . . You are a moron . . . Lack of institutional control is more like.
GVO - beat the Gators!
Honest to God, if for nothing but the entertainment value, I'd freaking love to see Spurrier here. What about these guys?
Gene Chizik
Mark Richt
Les Miles
Steve Spurrier
Gus Malzahn
That wasn’t the question, it was a comparison of Steele and Pruitt as head coaches. Check the state of Baylor when Steele was there too, context helps. Regardless, Pruitt is still top three worst hires in our history.Steele was 9-36 (1-31 in conference) in four years as Baylor head coach. He was demonstrably worse at Baylor then Pruitt was here. You want to hire someone from Baylor hire Matt Rule who was turned them back around.
Thank you, my point exactly.Dude they were 8-25 3 years prior to him arriving there. Baylor was the equivalent of Vandy/Kentucky in the 90’s. The high level of experience/responsibility as a DC/LB coach since then at major top programs is stellar. Lots of years in the game since then.
I don’t want him to be the HC here. It’s an offensive game now...high scoring with bend/don’t break defenses for the majority in college football including this conference. We need an exciting younger hire but with a track record of winning/building a winning program. But to say he’s the same guy now as back then is bull $#!t.View attachment 340573
Barring us winning the East, Steele should not be viewed as a candidate to become permanent coach.Steele was 9-36 (1-31 in conference) in four years as Baylor head coach. Under Freeze, the Ole Miss football program committed various recruiting and academic violations that figured in the NCAA's decision to expunge 27 of Freeze's wins and ban it from post-season play for two years. He resigned from Ole Miss after officials discovered that he had used a university cellphone to call escort services multiple times over the course of five years. NO WAYGonna say it . NOT GOING TO HAPPENOn Freeze, it's a hard spin to fire Pruitt for violations, then offer redemption to Freeze.
You pretty much shot down a lot with that post, but all seems reasonable to me.
Dude he is an ambassador for the University of Tennessee. In no way, shape, or form is he ever gonna bad mouth a HC publicly. Come on dude he’s to classy to do that crap.
