Official Bracketology Thread

Stone Cold Steve Austin has a podcast. A few years back he had Kevin Nash on there and he was telling stories from his basketball days at UT. I think he grabbed Devoe by the throat and cussed him.

I'll see if I can dig it up later.

I don't know if Nash grabbed Devoe by the throat, but there was definitely a physical confrontation.

They must have read my post on A&M being dead in the water with no dance in their future

Continues to look like 4 locks for SEC(even though I said UF isn’t)...Auburn, Tennessee, Kentucky and Florida.

And then 6 teams all around the bubble...Alabama, Arkansas, Missouri, South Carolina, Texas A&M and Georgia.

I'd love to get another shot at Auburn in the SECT.

Me too. I think it's time to start taking them seriously on a national level, but that is a team that I think we can beat if we do a better job of guarding the perimeter. They don't scare me like a Villanova or a Purdue.

Yeah I don't want any part Purdue or Villanova in the tourney. But like you said even tho Auburn is legit, we have a good shot at beating them. Our defense was pretty bad the first go around.

True justice we could have another shot at Mizz also. Impossible for our offense to be as bad as they were in that first game.

And UVA. That defense is nasty

Of the possible 1-seeds they are the one I'd want to face most. I think we have the best chance against them, despite that defense. We just have to be able to shoot well in that game and capitalize on possessions because they will be limited.

Their guards shoot over 40% from 3 and as everyone knows our perimeter D is not the greatest. So I don’t like the matchup. But yeah the limited possessions is probably the most attractive aspect of playing them vs anyone else. At least I’d hope it could be relatively close that some hot 3pt shooting could make it a came.

I think they’re better than Duke by a decent clip, but that I think would definitely be a bad matchup for us

Yeah, by virtue of being 1-seeds, they will all have ways of beating us. I just like our chances vs UVA more than the other options; Nova, Purdue, and Duke. Limited possessions, no real superstar to contend with, not a whole lot of size to keep us off the boards, not a great rebounding team (perhaps due to limited possessions).

Both teams have almost identical shooting numbers from 3, and both teams both shoot well from the FT line. Rebounding is probably even as well when adjusted for pace.

The size of Dukes front court is what would give us problems I think.

They play tomorrow so I guess we’ll see.

Should be a helluva game. Duke’s size with Carter, Bagley, Bolden and DeLaurier in the rotation would be a lot to deal with if they played. Then again the Vols are more physical on the block. Would be interesting to see how the game was officiated.

For probably the first time this season I truly believe Lunardi has us underranked, however a win today on the road coupled with others likely losing would surely move us up to a 4 seed (16 is last 4 seed).

Lunardi’s seed list at start of the day...

If this team can put it all together they are scary dangerous in March. Imo

Especially If the guards can be a threat. It would help keep teams from focusing 100 on GW.

RPI stayed at 12, KenPom went from 15th all the way to 9th, that’s a huge jump this late in the year.

Well we were bunched up with a lot of teams, so a small change in rating could make for a large wing in position

For example we’re only .01 above Kansas. There could be some games tomorrow that cause it to swing
