Not sure about the answer for the scholarship question, but let me say this. A broken hand is sometimes a freak accident and there is no reason to put the blame on the coaches. These other guys just sound like their hearts aren't in it anymore, and well quite frankly, if your heart isn't in it, pack your **** and get the **** out!!! This team doesn't need that sissy ass bs, they need warriors that will leave it out on the field every game.

Football is a mans sport. If don't wanna whip the man in front of you and go hat on hat the gtfo. I know exactly what you mean but not sure if those named in OPs post is the case but I get it. Knock someones block off. This isn't chutes and ladders or talliwhackers.

Normal for me. We called it Hell's circle in high school. One person in the middle doing fast feet, coach would call out a jersey number and whoever had that number charged. Hopefully you got spun around in time to see who was coming and get set to take a hit...or if you were quick enough, offer your own punishment.

I bet Hurd absolutely loves this drill.
I don't remember it in high school. Oh well.

What a lot of these kids need to look at is Blake Sims at Bama. I hate to give credit to anything Alabama, but this kid is what it is all about. He toughed it out and waited his time, and the one season he did get to play has been one of the best in Alabama QB history. A better example would probably be our own Travis Stephens who voluntarily took a redshirt midway through his career to get his one shot at being THE man. The reward was becoming UT's single season rushing record holder and having maybe the most memorable game of any running back in UT history against Florida. Someone who reads this that has the opportunity to talk to Scott should make him aware of Mr. Stephens and his story. We are building something special here and I would hate for him to miss being a big part of it.

Not easy to leave a program that's winning championships.

Again, you're just taking what I said and just putting your opinion in. Look at the evolution of football, In the early days, players played with broken legs. Players would lose significant amount of blood during the game. Now a days, a player is like "damn I got turf toe" I'm out 4 weeks.

:lolabove: I was just watching some of your old game film, NO SIR EEE. You sure weren't a quitter like today's kids. Here's a screen cap . . . obviously you were on the precipice of a comeback victory here.

I wasn't really blasting the players, just putting the truth out there. I've noticed on any level of football, football isn't what it really used to be. It's changed for the worse IMO. I played from the time I was 6 years old all the way through my senior year of high school and it's just changed. It seems that football used to be more a knockdown drag out sport a while ago compared to now. Some players just don't seem into it like we used to be into it. We lived and breathed this stuff 24/7 365. Now I see players in the NFL complaining about hits and players in college who give their all for a little while and then flake out, or go out and get in trouble, and high school players now, well you got a few that are there 100 percent, then you got those guys that just do it to get recognized for wearing a jersey. The way I've always looked at it, especially during my playing days, unless you absolutely can't go, then you don't need to be out there. It cracks me up to see players go down with a turf toe, or a strained arm.

Thus said the 5 6 220 lb guard. I had two boys that played and started fcs level ball. One misses it to this day while the other started his freshman year and quit. Hated tge off season Matt drills and drain on his time. Summer time isn't voluntary. It's a huge sacrifice.

I didn't play every game, but I knew someone that had a 2nd cousin that played with a guy who knew a guy that played with a guy who started some of the games.......so, I know what I'm talking about :0)

Have you heard about this guy named Jacob Gilliam?

(Sorry if someone else mentioned this; I was too tired to read through the replies.)

there was an al bundy reference earlier in the thread too!!

Now Al was a baller! 4 TDs in the city championship!
