Offering to double Gundys salary

Exactly ... and (even though I'd rather have Kiffin) Gundy is a really good coach and we should be SUPER happy to have a guy of that caliber after the fiasco we've been through.

I hope he goes after Tee for OC

We get Gundy...

I'm going streaking in joy!!!!!!!!

This would also be about the same for Petersen 129-28. Have we even asked him about any interest? Look I am going to support whomever the coach is and hope we win every game forever. Afraid Gundy is all offense NO defense. You better have a defense especially in SEC. You don't have many shootouts ,at least with the good teams because they play good defense. Think also the money is too much. I know compared to some of the other names he sounds pretty good. He may be a pretty good coach but I thought we didn't want to settle for pretty good. Thought we wanted Tennessee to be great. That is unless being bad, or the Currie fiasco has now made us ready to settle for pretty good. No matter who the next Tennessee coach is he will be my coach because it's TENNESSEE,but please NO.

For 15 years now we have allowed Powers from the outside to destroy our beloved TN.

TN has NEVER been successful with an outsider!

TN has EVERYTHING within the family to lead us out of this mess!

Thinking another person from the outside is a solution is buying into more failure!

Hire Tee NOW!

Muh orange blood!

Gtfo. Gundy is a winner. Get him.

Good thing defensive coordinators are a thing and TN will spend the money to get him one.

From dumpster fire to Gundy?..8 million. Some "other' booster from the satellite industry prob driving this deal..#Voltwitter and CE save the program..And when Gundy is inked fire Currie and hire Blackburn

I guess the good side in all this is that TN wont be able to use the excuse of money when it comes to hiring a defensive staff.

Hes a man hes 40. Gotta pay to play fellas. I don't know if hes worth 8.4. If he turns us down that # is out there for some other legit guys who know we are willing to play ball.

General Neyland was from Texas, went to West Point and MIT.

The stadium where Tennessee plays was designed by him and later named after him.

the only way to stop these coaches from being scared off is to offer someone a ridiculous amount of money and they'll all say "well...I'll take that chance!" correct?

If we offer the grown ass man over 8M and it turns out we never offered Gruden, Kim Jong Un should tactically nuke every Pilot station in the country.

The AD has infinite money?

It’s a solid hire, and I’m in. I’d just put a mandatory hair cut in his contract.

Not infinite money, but a program that is spending 340 million on stadium renovations, I guess I just don't see an extra 15 or so million over the course of 5 years as being that drastic.

Gundy has averaged 8.7 wins a year in his 13 years at OSU.

His 1st 3 years were "rebuilding" years because OSU was terrible when he took them over.

If you take out the first 3 years, he has averaged 9.5 wins over the last 10 years.

That's at Oklahoma State.. who has to compete with Oklahoma in recruiting. They also have a round-robin style championship in the Big 12, so he plays 9 conference games a year (1 more than the SEC). Their 1st 3 games of the year are non-conference, then they play 9 straight weeks of conference games (no cupcakes for homecoming)

He knows how to coach for a grueling schedule with tough games every week. That's been the problem with most SEC hires recently. There have been some decent coaches who came into the SEC and failed simply because they couldn't maintain their success through the weekly grind of SEC conference play... Gundy won't have that issue.
