Offensive Play Calling!!!

Volnation, yes it was great to win. But if you can't see play calling was an issue, I will bring your attention to multiple redzone opportunities. 4 field goals, 1 missed field goal, and only 1 touchdown. With just a touch of diversity in play calling 2 of those field goals are TD's.

We were fortunate that our D shut them down. FG U will not win SEC Championships

It was a perfect game plan. The last thing you want to do is turn the ball over to a team that is grasping for any emotion/momentum it can get. There's no way they beat us without us making huge mistakes.

And we might win 8 games in a season for the first time in 8 years and you are talking about SEC championships. Fantasy land is down the road brother...Let's just enjoy beating a team for the first time ever.

so with that mentality we should never pass the ball correct? Mixing it up between passing and running is very bad? No that makes no since at all!

Field Goal U will never win championships with that kind of mentality.

Why would we not improve at all next year? Explain your claim.

Will we improve as a team? Yes. I expect improvement for next year. My point is, with that same type of play calling, we will lose games next year that we shouldn't. Kind of like this year. I want to better our record and compete for an SEC championship. I don't think Debord gets us there. I hope I'm wrong.

Have we lost one game to an inferior team this year? You're reaching

You got it. Under the circumstances, there were no reasons to throw the ball more than we did. Excellent play calling with a very good in against a very good defense and a poor offense. Run the ball, win the game shorten the game, and go home with the probability of winning 8 games plus a bowl game.

Never said we did. I'm talking about games we had won and let slip away because we play not to lose, instead of playing to win. Like the Florida game and Oklahoma game. And I guess you could say Alabama too, but I won't count it. Maybe you're ok with losing those games every year. I'm not.

So freaking predictable!!!!!
We are easy to defend.
If we do not improve our play calling next year we will be in the same position next year!
Debord has proven as lackluster this season as I had feared

Yeah so predictable we ran all over a top 10 defense. this has been the best offense in years. I could care less when we sling 600 yards against Troy when we can now finally run the ball against Florida and Bama and Oklahoma and mizzou and everyone we play.

I'm not too fond of Debord, but if you look at our stats, we have one of the best offenses in the SEC.

With that being said, do you give him a pass this year and hope things are better next year? Or do you send him packing?

Right or wrong, Jones will absolutely retain him

So playing against a top 10 defense that has held most teams out of the endzone in the redzone had nothing to do with it? :banghead2:

It wasn't sexy, but it was the perfect gameplan. Cold nasty conditions....depleted Wr corps....against a great defense, and we absolutely abused them on the ground. Why would we even think about "airing it out"? Their offense was absolutely inept, so it made no sense. We only had 3 3 and outs. How many more do you think we would have had if we had thrown it more?

Where were you guys defending Deborg when we got beat by Florida, Oklahoma and Arkansas? Everyone of those games you can lay right at Deborg's feet.

I don't remember you guys defending him then!

Why can't you enjoy this win? Why can't you admit the game plan against Mizzou (you know the team we actually played last night) was pretty much spot on?

Hard to knock a WIN considering where we've been the past few years, but play calling deep inside Mizzou territory on 3rd downs was ABYSMAL! Total failure to understand situational awareness by Debord. It's as if he wanted to call a low percentage/low risk/low reward play and just hope for the best. I'll have to watch the replay closer to see if it was missed blocks or lack of execution. But at first glance the usual "what the hell is he doing?" popped into my head.

As a counterpoint, the only chance Mizzou had was defensive (turnovers, TDs, and momentum swings). The low risk approach offset that chance greatly.

I, for one, wasn't knocking him about the Florida and Oklahoma game. His offense got us multiple score leads in the fourth quarter. Our defense gave those games away. The Arkansas game...there was plenty of blame to go around. That is the worst game we have played all year, top to bottom.
