There are enough lineman out there, it's just a matter of the quality. Doesn't look like UT will get much of the top tier, but there will be warm bodies in burnt orange uniforms.
I want to say thanks to VKAman, Lord Vader, and the others that actually answered some questions instead of just throwing out smart remarks.
Vader pretty much summed it up for me, apparently UT has offered more lineman for 2010 than I knew about cause I was basing it of Scout.com. Good enough answer for me.
I expect ya'll to have a stout defense, but I can't see the offense doing much til 2011 considering line depth and QB situation. And as good as the defense is, I imagine they'll end up getting worn out. You can only sustain so long before you just crack, that's what happened with Auburn's D last year.
Yeah those freshman - no way they can be any good.
Ours (defense) did pretty good the whole year - and should be improved - when we had our worst offense.. basically ever - and the offense won't be as inept this year.
It's not that they won't be good prospects, but even good oline prospects usually aren't very good til they've a had at least a year in the weight room and time to learn good technique. I mean Andre Smith played as a freshman cause we didn't really have anyone else, but he didn't do very good that year, and he was a great lineman. Fluker is expected to be one of the best lineman to come out in a long time, and he's expected to be second string by those of us that aren't delusional and he may even redshirt. We've had alot 4 and 5 star lineman commits the past two years, and they are still behind guys that were two and three star committs that have been here awhile.
I was fixing to reply a rebuttal to NATidefan but you beat me to it. Bama started 16 freshmen last year so saying that a freshman player isn't up to speed as a returning player is pretty much null.
So... you know firsthand that Frosh can play then.
Clearly. We will be fine depth-wise this year barring serious injury. Next year, we will have some JuCo guys that will help with depth, possibly some freshmen that can contribute. It's not a recipe for winning the SEC, but UGA did it a couple of years back and had a decent year.We played 16 freshman, not started. And I'm talking about Offensive Lineman, not WRs, RBs, LBs, DBs, and people on Special Teams. Lineman, even good ones, usually need at least a year in the weight room to be worth a crap.
BTW, none of our freshmen lineman were second string, and I think only one or possibly two played at all and that was Tyler Love who was a five star and maybe someone else.
UT's second string in 2010 will be made up of two true sophomores and three true freshmen if they don't get some JUCOs.
What part of that statement made you think I said Frosh Lineman can play well? Can they play? Sure anyone can play, doesn't mean they're worth a crap.
But, hey, tired of arguing, obviously ya'll know so much more than I do.![]()

Yeh... you're basically our blueprint on that count.
How many did Saban run off in the first year?

Have you? Most of the JuCos are either still being evaluated or yet to be evaluated. I think James Carmon holds an offer.
