Offensive coordinator search thread

David Cutcliffe used his running backs and he knew just what to call. If you look at the success he had here, then you would want him back. He mixed things up all of the time, and he knew when to throw it. He loved the roll out passing with Tee Martin. He knew he had the receivers to catch it. After the fumble against Arky in 1998, go look what he called. It worked. We shined on offense.

I feel like these random sites are just going through finding guys Pruitt used to coach with and naming them as potential replacements
Because odds are that's what is going to happen. We aren't Alabama. We aren't plucking an NFL assistant or a top assistant from another big school. The "biggest name" guy Pruitt is likely to get is Dan Enos.

Kendal Briles?

Would be my dream hire. Houston has the 4th ranked scoring offense and10th ranked in total offense (with a QB that was a WR at the start of last season) BUT he is the leading candidate for the Texas St job. If Pruitt wanted him, I don't know if 1.2 million would be enough to persuade him to come here as OC instead of taking a HC position.

I mean except if you believe Schiano knew about it, the story is that he did report it. Schiano denies knowing. But yeah, paying for women is ok as long as you're a good coach. That's the lesson here.
So a consensual exchange of money for services is inherently immoral? How's that ivory tower?

While I agree with you, I'm just saying there's a lot of people on twitter after E-cred. I also think you're giving too much credit in think Enos would be hired. Tennessee will do what Tennessee has done since it hired Bruce Pearl, go cheap and hope its a home run

They could get Enos somewhat affordably. Would be more expensive than promoting from within, but certainly not breaking the bank.

The odds are really, really good Pruitt promotes from within, with Friend being the favorite to get the job if he does that. Could also be Weinke, Niedermeyer, Osovet, or some other assistant. I don't even think Pruitt or Fulmer is considering Freeze for one second, much less Kingsbury.

Possible Candidates are

Kliff Kingsbury
Hugh Freeze
Lane Kiffin
Randy Sanders
Freddie Kitchens
Will Friend
Rush Propst
Jim Bob Cooter

Let's fire this thing up
Anyone of these that does not run a pro style offense, you can get rid of. Bring on Freeze.

Only issue I have is he most likely would only be here for a season before leaving to be a Hc somewhere. That we don't need.
Really? That's the way this system works. You are a DC/OC, have success and someone hires you are HC. Anyone who takes the job and we are decent is going to get offers.
