It hard to imagine that CJP won't hire someone that will run a very similar offense to the one they began installing when he got here. It seems it would be taking steps backward otherwise.

As much as I want Hugh Freeze or Kliff Kingsburry, their systems are the opposite of Pruitt. I believe Pruitt will go with someone on the current staff or end up hiring someone who runs the same system we ran last year.

Personally, I think we should go with Freeze or Kingsburry and switch our style on offense because we do not have the o-line capable of running power football. Just my opinion.

You know this is just the kind of curveball we needed to keep posting and speculating this entire offseason. Go Vols!! Do we win the East next year?

This is how this would work with Freeze. He comes and the offense improves greatly under his guidance. (Good for the Vols). He gets hired away as a HC at another school and UT is looking, once again, for an OC. Lack of continuity is killing this team.
Bad players, no development, and Not winning has killed this team. I’ll gladly deal with coaching turnover if it is caused from
Winning for once.

If they want to help save Neyland attendance they will hire a big name that folks can get excited about. I dont really expect it. Just another cheap hire probably from within is to be expected. 451832F0-884E-4B81-AA8F-12812188AD75.jpeg

Pretty stupid to call me out on not knowing what I'm talking about when you barely follow the team.
When have you ever seen a team list ok guys x is going to call the offense today and y is going to call the defense. The only time I've seen anything announced for a game is when pruitt turned over the defense to sherrer.

In another thread I predicted Sanders but I really think it will be internal reshuffling of the assistant coaches, with no new additions or some up-and-comer intern or grad assistant. But why not Condaleeeza Rice? If not us now, then who?

Eh. Diddling kids and cheating at football are in two different moral universes.

No one actually cares about cheating. It's just a pain in the ass to get caught.

I know multiple Auburn fans who celebrate Chizik and the boosters buying a natty and not getting caught.
They would both seem to be a pain in the ass, one metaphorical, the other not so much.

Just when I thought it would be a normal off season, in lieu of bowl game, we get some much needed injection into thread topics.

Seems unlikely that Pruitt is considering Hugh Freeze. Pruitt doesn't want an "Air Raid" offense.

Unfortunately, it's tough to come up with many realistic candidates, which makes me think Will Friend will get promoted, Weinke will go to QB Coach, and we'll hire an RB Coach.

Would be interesting to take a shot at Bush Hamdan from Washington, but I suspect he'd merely get a raise and stay at UW. Matt Canada might be interesting if he doesn't get a promotion to Head Coach at Maryland (and he should get the promotion!). Tough for me to think of many other "good fit" candidates off the top of my head. Not really a great market for non-Air Raid OCs right now.

whoever it is I hope this gets named very soon

my guess is this has been in the works prior to the vandy game thus some of the rumors that came out about Helton being fired

Top three names have to be

Lane Kiffin, Derek Dooley and Butch Jones, right?

But seriously, Freddie Kitchens has been thrown out already. I'd be ok with that.
