OC Search - Kendall Briles (merged)

I guess that's why defenses are so good in the Big 12
If an offense moves the ball and scores points it’s good for the TEAM and the defense regardless if they play fast or not. Briles. When the offense struggles to move the ball it’s bad for the TEAM and defense regardless if you huddle or not.

Pruitts defense will be fine soon enough regardless of who the OC is. He is a top 5 defensive mind in the country. Briles is a top 5 offensive mind. Seems like a pretty good pairing to me.

I'm sure people will retort with the "casting stones" argument, but K. Briles may be an even bigger scumbag than Freeze. You have to draw the line in the sand somewhere right? Paying players is one thing, but basically whoring out young women at Baylor to get recruits on campus is well past where I'd draw the line. Truly shows that CFB is a win-at-all-costs enterprise. I couldn't support the hire, just my opinion.

If we lose Craig Fitzgerald to Maryland we are doomed much worse than losing Helton.

We saw less injuries since Fitzgerald moved S&C back to predominantly free weights, but I wouldn't say that there were measurable strength gains on the field that would make his leaving be a reason burn a mattress.

Sounds hypocritical from what we have been fed about Freeze baggage. I think
What they say about briles giving free sex to recruits as a recruiting tool is not
Good. I really believe nothing i read about the vols anymore. Its all fake news by
Creep reporters. When i read in ut web site its to be believed.3CC81FFA-3F12-4551-960B-934DEBB570F0.jpeg

Yeah but in Year 2 we could see those improvements, making his loss a huge one. I worry about this far more than getting Briles or Chaney.

CJP will be looking for a job in anther couple years if he passes on a good OC because of Friend.
I was going to add that JP needs to go if he ends up missing out on a good OC over bringing his guy with him (at a position where your coach wasn’t all that great), but decided not to. Until now 😬

Just spoke to Jeremy and he said the interview went well. It was conducted over a fresh batch of cornbread. Jeremy stated that Kendal did not like buttermilk poured over his cornbread which caused some tension but that they were able to come to an agreement on offensive philosophy. Interested to see if Coach Pruitt can overcome the cornbread issue.

#Tennessee is very interested in hiring Kendal Briles for its OC vacancy. One potential snag is he'd like to bring his OL coach/run game coordinator Randy Clements from UH, another former Baylor guy, with him. And Pruitt likes his own OL coach.

well, from a football only standpoint (no baylor business included) let him come ... move friend to .... some other position on staff.
i know we can only have so many on field staff people, but get creative, like in recruiting.

Since you don't seem to understand, I will try and explain things to you. There is a list and you may have a person that you THINK may be better than the others. That is why you have to keep an open mind during the process. That is why you will usually interview all the people on your list as soon as possible. A key is to make sure everyone on the list has the ability to do the job before you start the process. Often the person that you THINK might be your top choice isn't. You don't KNOW the best person for the job until you have talked to everyone on the list. You sure don't make an offer to the first person you speak with because number 3 might be the ONE. You might make an offer to the first guy if it is Jesus but I don't think he is on the list. If someone that you have talked to takes another offer before talking with you, then he wasn't the ONE.
Jesus isn't on the List???? How could He left off the list???

No I wouldn't, because when it leaks that the first coach that UT interviewed for the OC opening was Rascati, then it's all the more difficult to go back and interview the coaches that you want to actually offer the job to.

If our top two candidates wouldn't come in for an interview for a literal million-dollar-a-year job offer, then I'd gauge their interest as pretty low, and move on.
That is part of the reason you don't make any announcements about who you interviewed. The University has made no announcement for that reason. The chatter about candidates is outside BS. Unless Pruitt or the person interviewed says it happened, it never happened. Besides, these people have been through this process. They know the drill.

If was CKB I would have dropped trou and gone American Pie on that cornbread.

I want Briles over everyone else that was in the options even Freeze

As an OC goes, probably me to.
Kinda funny, if Houston does well, Applewhite gets hired away, then you know they'll come after Kendal.
Pretty much the same speculation as with Freeze.

But hey, I'd rather hire coaches that will be in demand every couple years, than hire coaches that don't do so well here and no one else wants.

In light of the actual reported evidence, you are making a very big leap.

Agreed. The good schools lose coordinators regularly and should expect to.
