Literally NO ONE, it seems, has any perspective anymore..... The guy wrote a good article about UT (minus the MJ part) and we have nothing better to do than disect it ?
Geez.. atleast he didn't refer to the "Bar" or the "Cheeseburgalers"..... He is actually looking forward !!!

Barnhart's useful as a barometer of conventional wisdom, at least from a southern perspective. If you want to know what people outside the program think about your team/coach/quarterback/whatever, Barnhart's a good place to start. He knows everybody in the business in the south, and what he writes is sort of an aggregated, then distilled version of what all the coaches and media guys and everybody else think. You won't get any groundbreaking insight from Barnhart, but you will find out exactly where everybody else thinks you are.

The persecutory delusions that some of our fan base suffer from never cease to amaze and amuse me.

The article was identified as being a 'Barnhart' piece. If you folks don't like the guy, don't read the article. Pretty simple concept, actually.

I thought the "year zero" comment from CDD was complete genius! It's like it immediately bought him an extra year in the minds of everyone.

Not sure that it actually bought him more time, but it's a pretty accurate assessment considering the crap they had to deal with last year.

It didn't buy him any more time on his contract(he has 5 or 6 years)or with most of us here on VN, but with the occasional fan it may have made them think a little bit about it. As far as the regurgitation bit, that is pretty much true with 95%(if not more) of anything you read about the Vols in the national media and over half of what you read in the local media. Dooley made a comment in that sit-down with Phillips the other day about the media coverage of the Vols. We are indeed one of the most news hungry fanbases in the country. We want the news before CDD gets it. If it didn't happen today or yesterday, it is a regurgitation.

Barnhart is by far the most fair, objective college sports figure in the media. I enjoy his comments on radio & now that he's full-time with CBS he should improve that venue. He's an admitted Dawg fan & graduate, but he's always been fair to everyone, including Tennessee.

You'll have to admit that those two plays (LSU) and MCB were two bizarre plays. The LSU upset would have been great for sure but we just didn't really have the depth to stop LSU. LSU lucked out and under-achieved in that game and we over-achieved. We just didn't have the muscles to stop that runner, Ridley. This season will be much different. We may not win the SEC but we have a lot more depth and we will have a strong offense plus I really think Wilcox will get a lot out of this year's defense. Last year he got a lot more out of what he had than I expected for sure. Year 3 will be awesome but we will have a good year this year I think. Vols on the rebound, despite the naysayers and I like the underdog roll anyway. I say "Whack, the VOLS are back!" GBO.
