I don't believe for a second that life is sacred and neither does your god. If he did, he never would have killed millions of people and if he believes that life happens at conception, he'd never allow miscarriages. Miscarriages are not free will. Women do not choose to have miscarriages, no matter what the crazy right-wingers say (some extreme right wing politicians want to prosecute women who have miscarriages).

If life was sacred, there would not be evil diseases like Tay-Sachs and Mermaid's Syndrome which are diseases developed during gestation. What did that "innocent and sacred" life do to deserve such a horrible fate?

You do not believe that life is sacred? Or, you do not believe that life is sacred in a religious sense?

what can i say? i get offended by those who don't take God seriously. That's why I am not God and why this is a perfect example of why we have a loving God.

And besides, you libs support the murder of innocent lives, why shouldn't you expect the same demise that you advocate?

Why should anyone care if you get offended because someone else has a different interpretation than you do of your religion? First of all, I believe your religion is hogwash. There is ZERO evidence for a god, and if someone doesn't believe the same as you, tough titty. You do NOT get to force your beliefs on someone else. Abortion is legal. Deal with it. Just keep praying hard enough and maybe one day God will send an earthquake to all the Planned Parenthood clinics. Then you can smile and thank him for killing so many people to make the country a "better place."

You are an angry sad man. I am not religious, but you are a waste of a oxygen.

The crazies speak the loudest. The country has not become extremely far right or left, but those with the louder voices have.

All I'm going to say us some people shouldn't be procreating. See "the girls of Alabama" thread in the football forum.

People should be angry at how ridiculously far right this country has become.

Far right? You've lost what little mind you had to begin with. Look back 40 years and compare it to now.....was it more liberal then? And if life isn't sacred.... Should someone be able to walk up and cut your throat?

Nice try sir. Read Luke 1 as I already said... Did you bother to do that?

I'll post it for you since you didn't.

In those days Mary arose and went with haste into the hill country, to a town in Judah, and she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby leaped in her womb. - Luke 1:39-41.

Get that Jesus is told to be baby when he isn't born yet. It doesn't take a genius to understand the Biblical definition of a baby. Now if you want to ignore the Bible which by the sound of your tone, you obviously do, then all you have to do is do your own research on what is developing. There is no other reasonable conclusion that anybody with any intelligence could conclude.

Where in the bible does it say that life begins at concepnion? No, it is not common sense. Why do you draw the line at conception? Why not before? The bible does say it is an abomination to spill your seed without the intent of procreating. Maybe we should also make masturbation illegal. Let Christianity rule our nation! It's not like we're supposed to be a secular country or anything...

Well that's too bad you think that. I hope you don't teach your cute baby that trash. I would issue you an explanation for your miscarriage and disease argument, but you will never understand it. Once you open your mind and be prepared to listen to the truth, then and only then, a discussion is warranted.

John leaped in the womb, not Jesus. Moreover, I do not put a lot of stock in Luke's narrative surrounding the birth of Jesus since it is historically false.

However, this does not get around the problems of the soul, which I brought up earlier, and you consistently fail to answer.

Can one being have multiple souls?

Can a soul be split?

When does a being become ensouled?

Yes, you are right it was John. And there you have it, the baby, whether it be John, Jesus, Coach Dooley, you, me or whomever, it's a baby that leaped in the womb.

And the birth of Jesus is logically false?? Well that explains it. Son, your hat that your wear on backwards is affecting your brain. Someone so lost on the most important decision we will ever make has no credibility. Are you some college kid that has it all figured out?:tease2:

Until you get your flawed logic correct, I will not have a discussion with you. You won't listen and nobody gets saved when an unsaved person has a hard head.

All too typical response.

"You don't love Jesus? You must be a college boy."

Where did I say "logically false"? I said Luke's birth narrative is historically false.

Also, I have based little to nothing on what the Bible says regarding abortion; most of that is coming from Krab. I am asking for your thoughts on the doctrine of the soul (a doctrine embraced by Christianity, by the way). You refuse to answer those questions because you are aware that you are in check and you would rather play for a stalemate than lose.

I welcome an explanation. Please, explain to me how those horrible diseases are just, coming from an "all-loving" god.

Not a difficult question, Krab.

One cannot prove either the existence of God or the non-existence of God. Thus, both possibilities are possible. If God exists, then anything follows from that. You could view this from a Hindu standpoint and say that actions in previous lives led to the suffering of an individual in their current life: that is, they earned their suffering. You could view it from a Judeo-Christian standpoint and say that going through this suffering is actually keeping these individuals from transgressing God's laws, and they will be rewarded with eternal bliss later.

Theodicies are hard to swallow but they are not incoherent.

How far right? Country is clearly evenly divided.

You are just a scumbag.

There are people in this thread saying that just because some people don't believe that life begins at conception they should be killed by god instantly...yet I'm the one who's a scumbag.

Great logic there. Just because I don't want my life or anyone else's life run by what one particular god says (or what some people interpret what one particular god meant) does not make me a "scumbag."

Yes, I'm angry. As an atheist, it makes my blood boil when Christians tell me I'm going to Hell or give out death threats to other atheists.

It makes me angry that so many politicians are trying to pass laws based on their religion when we are supposed to be a secular nation. It makes me angry when jerks like Pat Robertson say things like Hurrican Katrina happened because the people of New Orleans are sinners...blaming the victims. It makes me angry when idiots go on television and say that women aren't "legitimately raped" when they get pregnant. It makes me angry when women do have a rapist's baby (what the right wing wants), the rapist can get parental rights in 31 states. It makes me angry that priests have gotten away with raping children for dozens of years and some of those priests blame the children, saying they were "asking for it." It makes me angry when republican congressmen say that a rapist's child is a gift from god. Yes, I'm very angry at the ridiculous number of right wing extremists we have in congress and the senate right now.

The senate candidate didn't say anything of the sort regarding a rape being a legitimate rape.....you might want to go back and check yourself

You have a lot of reasons for being angry. It's interesting that atheists from what I've seen are always the angriest people I know. I wonder if that's because subconsciously because they realize they are going to hell.

Sorry sir. I hope you have a wakening to what Christ did for you before it's too late. You'll realize that at some point whether that's here or when it's too late.
