Obama to sanction Russia for hacking

Straddling the fence I see. You can't look at what came out of those emails and say the media didn't largely ignore it. I will agree the Wikileaks didn't help her one bit, but you and I both know the media ho-hummed the whole deal. And that's not subjective, show me where anyone outside of Fox News made an issue of it.

There were several factors involved in her not getting elected, but I don't think the emails were as big a factor as Comey and the fact the DNC nominated the worst candidate they possibly could have.

Since I don't know what your definition of "largely" is, I am obligated to straddle the fence. If you are asking me if Fox gave it more air than MSNBC, of course they did. I'll bet Huffpo gave more air to Trump's snatch grabbing than did Breitbart.

I agree that Comey's re-investigation timing was a kiss of death, but she was a s#itty candidate to begin with. I'm as glad she didn't win as I am perplexed that people are happy about trump winning.

The Meddler Award in this election would hands down go to the American press. Do we impose sanctions on them as well?

A good example is the Russian meddling itself. While all evidence indicates a whistleblower the Democratic party, sitting president and the media collude to change that to a Russian hacking. President and party make statements backed by nothing and the media flaunts them until it is now being discussed as fact. No proof ever submitted. This is the way everything was handled the last 8 years.

Russia picked our candidate? You're outta your ****ing mind..

If you're suggesting that I'm saying that Russia actually "hacked" the results, then, no. Russia did not hack the results. The results are valid, making Donald Trump a legitimate American president.

However, if you're suggesting that I'm saying that Russia actually chose which candidate it wanted, out of the two nominees, then I'll do you one even further. I think Trump knew this as well and that he participated in this attempt as best as he knew how, thus making him a traitor.

I now await your next picture-thought since apoplexy seems to often get your tongue.

Fake news...

That wasn't my point, only that most trump jock sniffers wouldn't dare or couldn't accept that they were manipulated.

Manipulated? Do you think those that are big Trump fans needed any of the Wikileaks info to get behind him? I sure don't.

If anything, the Wikileaks impacted the fence sitters and disaffected Democrats who stayed home.

If any group was manipulated by the Wikileaks stuff it was potential Hillary supporters; not hardcore Trumpers.

OK, I get it. It was a conspiracy! Yeah, thats it! Putin and Trump joined forces to defeat Hillary. Sounds legit. Keep that aluminum foil on tight and you will not be harmed.

You misunderstand me. I'm not suggesting Trump and Putin sat in a room together, colluding. I'm certainly not suggesting that Trump went to KGB spy school back in 1987 when he visited Moscow and both his business and political causes suddenly took a beneficial route towards the Kremlin.

What I'm suggesting is that he, unlike you, understood what the Kremlin was attempting to do through this cyber campaign. As such, I think he did his part to contribute and take advantage, namely by returning favors, culminating in the Tillerson nomination. This would make him a traitor.

As a related note, I'm going to be watching like a hawk what defense cuts he advocates. Thus far, the only industry he's proposed program cuts for is, bizarrely, defense - the one he was supposed to be gung-ho on. While some saw his comments about replacing the F-35 with the F-18 as "common sense, practical spending," I saw it more along the lines of "what would Russia prefer?"

If Russia hacked anything it was the DNC, not the actual election process. They also released emails to Wikileaks that literally meant NOTHING.

Americans are supposed to believe this? Lol.

It is clear that even if solid proof was supplied to the majority of the American electorate of Russian hacking/influence, it would not matter. Much the same as when proof was clearly shown of Obama's birth place and citizenship: the narrative shifted to he's lying, fabricated documents, etc. Many people obviously don't care because they are too busy gloating that their guy won. This is always the appeal of an autocrat, and everyone will reshape their narrative as is required by choosing what is fact or outright ignoring it.

When the definition of fact and truth became called into question, that is when liberal democracy began to falter. I only see it weakening over time. Partisan allegiances to figure heads instead of ideas is destroying political discourse.
