4 worst presidents:

1. Wilson
2. FDR
3. Lincoln
4. Bush II

All 4 were unable to avoid costly war. All 4 greatly expanded the power of the executive. All 4 infringed on civil liberties. All 4 undermined the free market. All 4 ignored constitutional bounds. Etc.

I dont know if lincoln had the choice to avoid war.........

There's always a choice. Why wouldn't he have a choice? He didn't HAVE to maintain the Union. He didn't HAVE to initiate the next 8 engagements after nobody was killed at Sumter.

He picked a side, and became an economic ally to the Allies. If we don't sanction Japan, we don't get attacked. I really doubt that he wanted to keep us out of WWII (like he promised) in light of the Rainbow 5 plans.

Also, Japanese internment was beyond idiotic.

Why does he have to maintain the Union? Why do 600,000 Americans have to die to maintain a Union people don't want to be part of? The union is supposedly made up of voluntary parts? There is nothing inherently good about the size of the Union. "Maintaining the union" is nothing more than a nationalistic objective to ensure American exceptionalism. Contraction is not what makes nations great in the annals of history.

You think Germany would attack us if we were trading with them? Are you sure about that? Do you know what the Allied Powers had in common prior to WWII? They all sanctioned Germany.

Source?

And actually Hitler had forbidden Japan from attacking the US while they had a presence in the Philippines. Japan didn't listen because they were so desperate for rubber.

The "LOL" argument serves you well.

Maybe you should make an argument as to why 600,000 Americans needed to die.

sure, the confederacy had no legitimate right of seccession.....the fault is the souths

So 600,000 people die because the South broke an unwritten law?

Amendment X says they were within their constitutional rights.

Losing half the country would make any president's tenure a failure.
