Oakley Sunglasses

I only buy sunglasses from the $10 rack at Wal Mart. It's just not that important to me to look cool.

I've owned Walmart sunglasses, oakleys, ray bans, etc., but the best sunglasses I've ever owned are Costas. The fit is way more comfortable than other brands and the lenses are excellent.

Same here. I have 2 pair and like them better than any I've ever owned.

The plastic frames are known in the industry as Zile frames which are a hard resin frame that has built in memory to retain their shape. The problem with the hard zile frames is fit and remaining comfortable on the temples and over your ear. For some people one brand may not feel as comfortable as another brand. The Zile frame can be adjusted by heat and ice water, a trained optician will use a heated glass bead tank and can heat and bend then submerse in cold water so the reshape will remain. The heated glass bead tank is also what is used when mounting the lenses into the frame for a tight snug fit.

A consumer can still change out their lenses themselves and the glasses still look fine and will perform fine but the heated beads method gives the tightest fit in the frame.

Going to be a police officer. I need high quality, durable sunglasses that I can wear comfortably all day without them falling off my head if I am doing something physical. These seemed to fit the bill and look damn good imo.

Gotcha.

If that's the case and you will be using them for your profession than they would definitely seem to be worth it.

I thought you just meant as a fashion statement. Obviously I was incorrect.

I feel like a complete tool wearing Oakleys if I'm not currently participating in some sort of athletic activity.

I've had some Gascan polarized Oakleys for a few years now and wear them primarily when I'm hiking, working in the yard, or on the lake. The floating Croakies strap is a must.

You like tge Gascans? I'm thinking about customizing a pair.

Im ordering mine Friday. Buddy has a pair and Ive worn them quite a bit. Really nice glasses. I originally thought they were too big for me but you get used to the size.

I've never understood the appeal of "sport sunglasses" for general purpose wear. I think it's just as stupid as wearing croakies.

Agreed. That's why I usually wear a three piece suit instead of t-shirt, shorts, and Nikes. I've never understood the appeal of "sport clothes" for general purpose wear.
