I was a licensed optician for 15 years and some of the things being said in this thread is simply not true. Oakley does not make lenses for their glasses, just like there are a limited amount of frame manufacturers there are also a limited amount of lens manufacturers. The lenses in the high line sunglasses just have stricter rules in place to make sure (if polarized) the axis on the lenses are lined up to match verses a cheap pair where they could be off somewhat resulting in a less clearer view. The mark up on frames and lenses are huge, you can buy a cheap frame and have lenses cut and have a pair of sunglasses that are just as superior as Oakley, RayBan or any other highline pair of sunglasses.

I've tried grey, black iridium and ice all in polarized, all gave me troubles. Standard grey and black iridium are fine, as well as emerald iridium, which is what I typically play in these days.

I feel as though amber is the best for depth perception

Buy replica Oakley's. They look the same, and will last the same time. If you break them, big deal you're out 15.00

Why you no like them? Never had Wiley x, but ESS were issued to us once and I liked em till I lost them in Afghanistan

I couldn't stand the ESS's. Seemed like dirt/sand was always hitting me in the eyes. Don't know if it was the curvature of the lenses or what. The clear lenses always seemed to scratch real easy also. Only reason I wore the ESS's was because I kept a clear pair in the truck in case we were out later than normal and had to throw the NVG's on. Nobody would ever steal those things. Other than that, Oakley's all day.

I agree with Yankee that the M Frames were the best out there. Never wore the Wiley's.

I like these gascans as well. I will probably go with these since they are only 120. The flak jackets are 170.

NOOO

I was actually on the site and BOOM! The deal switched!

I was trying to make sure they were polarized, because they didn't even look tinted in the pic.

Keep an eye on whiskeymilitia.com, they have oakleys from time to time for a good price. I've got some good stuff from there.

Edit: coincidentally, if you register you can look at their private stash which has oakleys at the moment. I glanced through and saw quite a few pairs for ~80$

I've had my Gascans for 3 years and just bought my half jacket this summer for golf. If you order them online you can customize them - they ship in under a week usually. I love mine, I may get some polarized lenses for the halfjackets.

You can get some very realistic looking foakleys (aka fake oakleys), especially in Afghanistan, but they never feel as comfy our last nearly as long.

lots of foakleys on the beach in Mexico too. Of course they'll break in just a couple months but they're cheap

Also, they don't look authentic to the trained eye. But to the sunglasses layperson, they do have an "O" on them...

The fake RayBans are much more convincing, IMO. Hard to fake the plastic frames.

my customized Minute 2.0s don't have the Oakley in the middle so to the "trained eye", they look just as fake. Trust me, no one would know the difference from some of the ones I've seen down range. You can't tell the difference until you put them or hold them.
