Vols commits, targets on move in updated Top247 for 2020Previous 247Sports ranking: No. 17 overall prospect, No. 3 athlete
Updated 247Sports ranking: No. 20 overall prospect, No. 2 tight end
Washington remains just outside five-star range — the nation's top 18 prospects currently are five-stars in 247Sports' rankings — but he's ranked among the nation's top tight ends coming off his strong showing at The Opening Finals. He already has visited Tennessee
???? He proved the last 3 years how good he was at making 5 star TE's elite blockers. The NFL doesn't give a squat about blockers. I see Chaney as a roadblock to us landing elite TE talent to be honest. Washington, Gilbert and Johnson have got to be aware of this.
Wondering if KS wanted the TEs to be " elite blockers" as he called them. Assuming he wanted to build a team like AL. How did AL use the TEs while he was there?Nauta was his own problem. Lack of want to. Chaney history with Te expands well beyond UGA. Our TEs haven’t been used the same since he left TN.

While most of Tennessee’s expected visitors for this weekend are scheduled to be on campus Saturday for the Vols’ pool party, at least one of their top targets plans to be in Knoxville before then. Five-star tight end Darnell Washington of Las Vegas is scheduled to visit Tennessee on Friday, along with Class of 2021 teammate Michael Jackson III, before visiting Georgia on Saturday. It will be Washington’s third visit with the Vols since June 2018, and sources close to his recruitment still believe Tennessee is one of a handful of schools in the best shape with him. Sources said Georgia and Alabama still are the teams to beat for Washington, with Auburn and Miami also in the picture. But the Vols already are in line to host him on an official visit, along with Georgia and Alabama, and Friday’s visit will give them another valuable opportunity to sell him on his opportunity at Tennessee.
VQNotably, 5-star tight end Darnell Washington and fellow Nevada native Michael Jackson III, a 2021 blue-chip receiver, arrived Thursday and were scheduled to spend Thursday and Friday in Knoxville before making their way to Georgia for the rest of the weekend.
I don’t think both end up at UGA but if I picked today, I would pick Washington to UGA, not sure on Gilbert. I’d pick UT today but Bama is pushing but also wouldn’t be shocked if Gilbert started looking at schools that don’t require you to block as a TE. TE in the SEC is different than some conferences, WR are even asked to block in the SEC.You guys getting Gilbert and him!?
