Sure I made mistakes when I was 18 but I never committed robbery. A mistake is something you use whiteout or an eraser on, its an oversight. I wouldn't characterize robbery as a mistake, its an extremely bad choice, probably one that was done while impaired. In any event, at some point in the evening he was sober and in complete control of his choices - study school work, read playbook, get rest for upcoming practices/game......nah lets go smoke and rob somebody - that my friend is not a mistake.

CAM NEWTON
Charge: Felony counts of burglary, larceny and obstruction of justice in November after allegedly stealing a laptop from a UF student and throwing it out his dormitory window upon police suspicion.
Outcome: Newton received pre-trial deferment – common for a first-time offender – and is serving community service and probation time. The charges will disappear assuming he completes his obligations.
Team punishment: Meyer suspended Newton for the rest of the 2008 season. Newton transferred to Blinn (Texas) Junior College.

JACQUES RICKERSON

Team punishments: Rickerson was suspended for the 2007 season opener for the marijuana charge, then kicked off the team the morning of the domestic violence incident.

Is this it? I thought that there was even more. Florida fans cant say anything with the criminals on their team. I guess this means that we DONT need to sign Cam Newton, look at all the flack that we could get taking FLorida felon rejects and putting them on the team.

Only two players listed were allowed to stay on the team, their charges were dropped, all others were dismissed. I'm sure UT will dismiss these guys IF the felony charges are upheld. I don't know of any program today that allows convicted felons to play football.

I know this is my first post as I do not usually respond to things on message boards because of the ignorance that some people post. With that said, I have seen some of the most pathetic and some of the most intelligent post I have ever seen in this thread. I have seen people mention that these 3 young men owe them something... One of the best lessons in life that I have learned is that nobody OWES anybody anything. They don't OWE you and you don't OWE them. "IF" you get anything from an outside source, you appreciate it. "IF" you can and want to, you give to an outside entity, but you should expect nothing in return. These 3 young men owe themselves. They don't need anyone on here telling them that they are stupid, or that they blew a wonderful opportunity. I'm willing to bet that they have realized that. They have prosecutors and lawyers giving them options that I'm sure they really don't look forward to deciding upon. I'm sure they realize they made a serious mistake. I pray that they have a chance to make it right, however that may be. They will have to accept whatever punishment is dealt down to them, but the shouldn't be punished by everyone telling them they are idiots. As far as the racial comment I read, that is by far the most pathetic thing I have ever seen. If I were to say I was black and was raised a good portion of my life without a father, it seems you would KNOW that it is because my father is in prison somewhere. I'm not black but I was raised a good portion of my life without my father. I wonder what that means? My father passed away and I do not know Richardson's situation, but something similar might be the reason he would grow up without a father figure. It would be nice to read words of encouragement on site's such as these when young men make a mistake, instead some fan's would rather speak of hate and disappointment as if these kids OWE you something. None of the players OWE you, and if you think they do then don't cheer for them. They didn't enter a contract to agree to OWE you anything. They play to there best ability for us to watch. Be thankful for that. They could easily get injured and never be able to play again, or walk again for that matter, then who OWE's them?

Sorry for the long post. Maybe this will help some get there head out of there ass and realize whats important here. Good luck to the 3 young men that are dealing with their mistakes. And good luck to the others with the game today. GO VOLS!
